Somebody explain to me why there is no outside idler on the new sidewinders..i do not see anything good coming from that especially with the torque!!I see a couple of catastrophic reasons...someone chime in on how this is a good thing...when riding on uneven trails I can see some serious issues also especially if the trail is concave!!

are you talking about the rear axle...tri hub>? and yes it is an issue IMHO

food for thought

I have a JT Stealth kit also sitting on the bench.. I will say this- the old firecats DID not have 4 wheels. I know of guys that put thousands of miles on with only the two wheels that come stock. Its about the tri hub bearings and quality. Not everyone has problems with the stock set up. Not saying I would run it BUT just saying its not a issue on every sled

I ran my turbo viper the first yr on tried hub no problems but the bearings were rough at the end if the season I have 4 wheels on both sleds now an no problems in 6000 miles there is no noticeable difference in the handling between 2 &4 wheels.

beyond the fact its a crap shoot with the trihubs bearings...theres the fact a ice chunk or? could get caught in the vanes between the wheels and destroy the unit!

and....

the skid drags at the rear...in other words the skid rolls on the front wheels....but at the rear is dragging on the slides...they made the setup too small..

Hence the slightly bigger wheel circumference on the JT stealth big wheel kit;)!

^^yes sir...not to mention the more even track and better traction when studded... big stealth wheel kit sitting on the bench ...going on mine and on mighty's ltx le too!

food for thought
Is that thing in reverse!!! I would assume any track bulge would be in front off the skid, as the drivers are pulling the track, not pushing. The pulling of the track should keep tension on the rear wheels right?

Im not referring to ballooning...but more distorting of the track...you can see the wheels bulge on the trihub and its obvious the pressure isnt even across the width of the track...

4th wheel kit advantages:

Better cornering
Less drag
No more snowballs coming back and hitting you
If the tri-hub bearing(s) fail, you can still get back
Less bending and twisting of track when off-trail or side-hilling

Having been way out in the middle of nowhere when the axle wheel on my three wheel axle came off an RX, and no no shops open on a Sunday etc. Makes for a crappy day and an extended trip. Fourth wheel kit always for me from that point on.

I will put a 4th wheel kit on
But after $17gs should I really have toooooo?
