Why some nytro,s run harder then others

I have pics of exhaust in old post on hauck exhaust and pullin away ridin 2 up its called horsepower

As stated above there is those that are 135 hp sleds and then 139-140 hp sleds. The only tested difference currently has been the muffler itself as testing with muffler removed had different results on 135 hp machine than on 140 hp machine. Peak torque is almost irrelevant as it is down around 6800 rpm and peak horsepower has shown in the 8600-8800 rpm range.
Mine dyno'd at 142hp stock today & 145hp with my exhaust .

Mine was built 07/07.. ser 1794. It hit 9,100rpms tonight in this new snow. I must have a good one. It seems to have really woke up now that its close to 500miles.

So if mine only runs 8800rpm and i just change the muffler, I also will have some extra HP?

If I remember correctly the number on my tunnel ends with 5202 or something like that. Where can I se the month of fab? On mine there is only made 2007 printed on the side.

Guys don't go swapping around mufflers yet. It could be production tolerances, fuel flow, etc that makes the differences. Until more testing is done there isn't 1 thing that can be pin pointed yet.

I thought I read somewhere that when you guys ran the sled on the dyno without any muffler at all, it showed even higher results in peak hp than with it installed ? So in theory, wouldn't that mean that less exhaust restriction at the muffler yields higher output on this motor ? And from what I know with tuning sportbikes, a more free-flowing exhaust is generally quite a bit louder, not quieter, so there goes the quieter, more free-flowing muffler theory. I'm also considering the fact that proper backpressure is required to make power, but it sure sounds to me like this sled is just begging to be set free ! I've got a super lightweight Yoshimura RS5 titanium exhaust on the way, pretty much the same muffler that Malonowski used on his race sled last year, and if this muffler wakes up this sled like it does on my buddy's GSXR 1000, I should be very happy. You wanna hear this pipe too, it sounds amazing on a litre bike, just listen to Mladin's or Spies' Superbike and you'll know what I'm talking about.... Anyway, I'm gonna give it a try and test it out. I'll post results later on, so stay tuned.... ;)!

Nytromaniac, when we ran on the dyno with the muffler removed it made 1.7 hp more at peak. Use caution with putting a bike muffler on a sled, they are not constructed heavy enough for the continuous heat build up of a sled environment.

I'll keep a close eye on it Allan, Thanks for the heads-up. I'd say if it can hold up to the extreme heat it is exposed to on a racebike at a continuous 12000-17000 rpms in the middle of the summer at AMP, I'm thinking it should be fine.

2500 miles on 2005 R-1 Titanium twin silencers on my RX-1 and no problems either. Not saying you are wrong cause I worried about durability as well when I first installed them but so far so good.
