would anyone buy their apex again

Like ScubaPro Dive gear Yami just keeps improveing their line for ride, durability, reliability instead of coming out with a new design every couple of years and never perfecting the old one or getting it to do the job it was meant for.

I'm buying a new Apex for my wife this year after seeing how mine has 5K with no problems.

I'm with Kinger........ Once you ride the Apex, or Rx 1 also, if you fall in love with large 4 stroke powerband then nothing else will suffice. To me it was pure addiction. And the reliability factor of these machines just seals the deal.

All of my fiance's relatives own modded Summits (Revs mostly, but a few XP's) and powder ride often. They tease me for my Yamaha'a (but consider me a lost cause)....

But I tell you, just like Kinger's friends, they are constantly having engine failures and the like..... Heck, my '03 Mountain Viper (which i keep just for back country riding up north with all of them) is way more reliable than '07 and '08 Revs! And while I think/hope BRP will get the E-TEC bugs worked out, they seem even less reliable also. Heck, last spring we also had a brand new '09 800 Power Tec Summit blow up.

Now I realize machines from any of the "big 4" can detonate or melt down, but I think BRP is trying to skirt the emissions requirements by leaning their engines down too much --- bottom line, then machines will blow up.

And I can't tell you how much even the biggest BRP enthusiasts amongst my in laws love the power band of my Apex. And they won't even compare rides on bumpy trails.

If I bought a Summit 800 (and trust me, I've shopped them several times) I know I would have to keep my Apex for most all riding situations, because I would miss it. In fact, I'm tempted to try and find an Apex Mountain or MTX (or make my Attak a 144") for powder riding with them -- because that is what they always have on me, that back country riding where their Summits excell and I need my old Mountain Viper for........

Mike ;)!
agreed. the torque is an addiction. we switch sleds off all winter long. and i always couldnt wait to get back on my rtx. the only sled i rode that was even close to pulling hard was my buddies modded zrt 600. i love my apex. every year it gets better cause i can afford to buy more things. this sled never bores me. and the turn key reliability is awesome. no high test gas. no 2 smoke oil.

love my 2006 apex. I plan to drive it into the ground and then keep it as a back up. i only have 6500 on it so it should be around for a long long time.
I spend my off season tinkering and repairing what needs to be repaired. I go overboard and repair stuff before it needs it and do a lot of preventative maintenance. For me, i would rather invest a few hunders every off season then replace an entire sled every few years. I have had a few small issues but nothing i would waste time complaining about!!

Nothing on the market that is better than my 06 APEX GT for my liking!!! My chum with his A/C when he cracked his hood it cost him 1,000$ to replace it with decals. It would have been a lot cheaper if it was in 3 pieces like Yamaha !!! ;)!

I love my Apex GT also, but I wouldn't say that it is because of how affordable the Yamaha parts are LOL!

I wouldn't bet on that....
I did a number on mine and with the hood, windshield, headlight pod, and instrument cluster, plus a few other little goodies, and it was WAY over 1000. - without the decals.

Lesson learned - DO NOT let this machine get upside down!

I think the plastic on these sleds is worth as much as the freakin' motor in many instances......

It's almost as costly to replace, anyways!!!!!!!

Love mine too, but hope for a all new Apex in 2011.

if i were you and your looking for a quiet trail sled i would go with the new vector ltx will have all the best of the apex but should be better for trail cruiseing, i love my apex but i'm with you on the drone, drives me nuts. i get on my dads venture two up and i laugh every time i get off it, it's quiet rides and handles great i set it up with heel clickers so it pulls hard and reduced the engine brakeing. we put pilot ski on both our sleds and i changed springs and revalved my shock on my apex gt to get the sit in feel instead of the sit on and now i can relax and ride one handed and and not dart all over, i hated the sled when i first got it but now that i have it setup i'm very happy except for the noise, my brother inlaw ordered a new vector ltx gt and i think it will be one of the best sleds out their period.

i thought i heard on here that one of the arctic cat tracks were much quieter, has some kinda bumps where the hyfax ride and makes them quieter

Just got done putting in a 144 with 2" on an 06 RTX so far on the grass and river she dam good just need snow. You all have to do these :yam: it looks cool.
