Well i cant speak for a reg. adreline, but my xpx 800 absolutely eats all bumps, small or huge,my bud has the 06 apex gt with shrader revalve and spring on his,and he is 150lbs of absolute anamel in the trails, and both of us were coming back from greenville maine on its 85 rr bed it was so beat you could not find one inch of smooth trail for all 40 miles we had to go,to get back to newport, from where we were when we encounted the beat to crap trail,we throttled up like we normally do and we ran togeather for a few miles and i decided to see if he would stay with me,generally he does, last year on both of my apex's he would of,one was a great going and sprung up 06 apex w/floats and at the end i got the 07 rtx and he could keep up with 99% of the time, but not now i could just wack the throttle pick up my #*$&@ an inch or so,and just absolutely blow him away thru 2-3 footers and after i got back i checked my gps and my speed down the crappy trail was 98-101 gps i hti several bridge aproaches at 90 plus and it just flew 4 ft in the air and landed so smooth i never even knew it happened, and we would line up and it was like racing a 600 class sled from take off,if i had slowed down and let him catch up as we roll along he had a better chance, but even that dident last long, this xp is a weapon, now how long will it last, before something bad happens? Who knows hopefully it will last two years, that is generally how long i keep sleds,it does need some set up,but all my sleds have had to get set up for my riding style and weight,240# dressed,it is the real deal,as far as i am concerned, and i have had over 35 sleds in the last few years lol now i am 52 so i have been riding for a while now he he this sled is not perfect, but it is very nice even out of the crate,ya i will add two more rear idlers,so i dont derail it,yes i have clutched and geared it,but i did all these things and more to my yammies, and i still love yammies,we still have the 06 rtx 05 vector and 06 apex gt in our house.SumpBuster said:ReX said:SumpBuster said:They don't ride well over constant stutters, or all the xp's on tug a few weeks ago were pokers...they bounced all over at high speed...apex with shock revalved mono eats em up..unless, like I say, at least 20 of them were just out pokin...back ends bounce around a lot..one guy almost rolled right in front of me over a crossed up set of moguls. Just my opinon. Plus, my bud's TNT sucks gas at unreal rates...he's 19 yrs old and rides hard, but I don't see anyone riding hard on any two stroke getting anywhere's near 25 mpg. Then again, I'll never see 15 again on my Apex, either..lol.
Have you ridden one?
On top of that, your Apex has a custom valved shock set up for your weight, your riding style and your particular setup (no saddle bags, etc.).
I don't know how the TNT would compare as it is a lower end sled with a lower end engine that burns a lot of fuel (for the power it makes), but I'm quite sure the MXZ 800R X-package would do very well through stutter bumps. It is very well damped and doesn't have any of the "bounciness" you get when a sled doesn't have enough rebound damping. This sled has a very solid, well damped feel as far as the suspension goes. There is very little kick back, if any, over bumps. We actually built a fairly big jump (~4' high) using my plow truck and that REV-XP's suspension is very impressive - landing on flat ground. I didn't even try my 07 RTX off the jump...
I agree...no contest on jumping..the xp's are made for that. I'm talking 50-sometimes approaching 90 mph (many are seasonal roads) on your typical constant garbage, 1 foot + stutters, with occasional unpredictable deeper stuff...the mono has an up and down motion, no kick back like the xps. These guys were all over the place. For control, the apex is rock solid on this type of condition. Just one observation on one day. We passed many and got some fingers, but that doesn't make them a bad sled by any means. I'd never jump my apex. Not made for that.
I just don't see all the hype..every year..first the F7's, then Machz1000's, etc..they're all good in their element. Besides, just the fact we are comparing a sled that weighs 140 more pounds, with a little less horsepower, is kind of not even fair to the Yammies...the xp's should be performing TONS better than an apex, given the specifications on paper
I can't imagine trying to take a GT down through that trail at that speed. The Apex is way out of its element. Your riding buddy being an animal must be an understatement. lol

Hey Pete.
Ya gonna make it Canada this winter?, so i can test drive your new 800!
Also I will be looking for another sled this spring/summer for the wife. Like to get another apex maybe. Let me know if ya come across any great deals.
Thanks,
Rick.

Both these guys I ride with have the X model, with the super stiff seats, and the very firm ride. Doo did a good job on ergo's,and the xp's do corner flat, but the suspension IMO is too firm and kicks the sled around at high speeds. When I'm following these guys in the rough they're getting bucked around, while i'm just sitting back while my suspension sucking up those same bumps. Niether one of these guy's are totally impressed with the new machines, but with time I'm sure they will get them to work.ReX said:berge75 said:Man,do poeple over rate the xp. I even though of possibly going ski-doo if the new xp was all that they where claiming, but after driving one for a weekend I'm glad i don't have one. Even the owner of it claims his '04 rev was a better sled.
Which model?
If you're comparing a REV-XP to an Apex you really need to compare the MXZ Adrenaline 800R, MXZ X 800R or GSX Limited 800R to the Apex. The lower end models are simply that, lower end models (and much cheaper than an Apex too).
They definitely don't have the smooth feel that the awesome motor in the Apex provides, but I'd be interested in knowing what you hated about them. If its the motor, I think we all agree the Apex's motor blows the doors off the 800R for smoothness, sense of premium quality, smell, sound, etc. - even though it is heavier.
I try every brand of sled when given the oportunity,so when it's time for new iron,I know where i'll be happiest. So far the apex IMHO is where it's still at.
if TWO SMOKES were it your vehical would be to,but its not!! love my apex for the longevity,i own many two strokes, there great! just don't last!FUEL MILEAGE.the new XP is getting MPG because its LIGHTER,less drag! my apex gets pretty good mpg for being HEAVY,powersled.kinda like DIESEL vs GAS,4STROKE vs TWO SMOKE.ski-doo gonna have to face it,one day they will be heavier than what they are now 4 strokes will rule they will have to stiffen that chassis for there performance 4 stroke.by then yamaha will be LIGHT years ahead!! :

Sounds like you're not riding them hard enough for the firm setup.
Soften up the clickers and it should help, but the X-package is meant to be ridden hard and from what I've seen and heard it does work well when pushed very hard. I've still heard complaints from a few that even the X-package is too softly damped so it totally depends on the rider.
Keep in mind also, that the X-package was meant to be a special order (spring order only) for a super firm suspension and seat aimed squarly at only the most aggressive riders. I found the ride was excellent on my buddies MXZ X and the suspension firmness is just about right for me with stock clicker settings.

Face it guys its one bad #*$&@ sled. I snow checked A Rev-XP Renegade I wish I had it HOWEVER I know how hard I ride and with the substantial weight loss I truley wonder just how well these things will stay together after a couple years. As for vibration....big yip like who cares when your rippin in the kick!!!! Boys its a real machine now lets just see for how long!!!
So what you are saying is: I won't have to wait for you as long, when you are riding the XP

Ha..I'm 52 too..been riding since 69, and Tug Bump Freekin Hill since 1972 when there were no groomers. On a Skiroule with 2 inches of travel. We've always had guys with the latest stuff with us, but I've had tankers since the mid 90's Machz's and ALWAYS had to mess with springs and shocks to handle the weight to make them do what they dont' want to do. I'm not knocking the xp's..just been there, seen that. Calibration is the key, not how much the sled weighs, and rider confidence critical to high speed bumps, although, I'd cringe at too many miles of 3 footers on my Apex..getting old, and at the firmness needed to handle this stuff, it just rides too hard. Got nothing to prove anymore..lol. My buds are still 10 to 20 years younger, so they keep me honest, but I can't see that good far away going at stupid speeds...5 deer ran out in front of us a week ago in a 110 mph field...kinda gets your attention. I always figured if they can get 10,000 pound trucks to handle the Baja, I can get a 100 pound heavier sled to dance a little too.

Just talked with my friend that owns a small speedshop in the Twin Cities. He owns a 2006 APEX GT that has over 5000 miles, is picked and clutched real well.(he owns a track dyno) He rides every weekend up at his cabin in northern Wisconsin. Up to this point, he said that in their area, no one could ever get by his APEX. (He's a good rider....races) Anyways his brother bought a new 800R REV XP. I asked him today how it runs. He said the XP was a little soft running at first, but now it is broken it with over 1500 miles on it , is bone stock, no studs or clutching. Who ever gets the holeshot wins.....even on full top end. He didn't think a bone stock APEX could beat it. That's pretty good I guess. He did mention though that the Doo is a bit on the light duty side. They have had it in the shop three times to straighten a few kinks out when he has hit stuff. All in all his brother likes the sled........performance sells.

Same here,I go 240,and the guy on the 800xp goes 180,and we run very close all the way up to 100. I think mine pulls harder on the big end though, he doesn't like to run the ski doo wide open for long periods in fear of blowing a belt or something worse?journeyman said:Just talked with my friend that owns a small speedshop in the Twin Cities. One thing I noticed this year, the doo guy's I ride with used to look foward to the bumpy trails and now this year I'm the only one looking foward to them, Hmmm???
