Not an official Yamaha update that I can say.
But this is how the all 2011 XTX models are shipping to dealers.
And... Some dealers are doing this update for some good customers.
(as some guys have claimed)
Maybe will help the center shock wear issue...???
But for me... I don't wait around for dealers.
I went to the online micro fiche and ordered the new 2011 hanger parts.
Bolted on the flat bracket and drilled new hole.
Added new hook, took old hook off wheel mount and moved wheel forward.
Very easy to do this update.
Qty-2 Washer P/N 90201-100S0
Qty-2 Nut P/N 95602-10200
Qty-2 Plastic Hook P/N 8HF-47446-00
Qty-2 Bolt P/N 95817-10055
Qty-2 Collar P/N 90387-10081
Qty-2 Bracket, washer P/N 8HL-47374-00
Cheers

That must have been a pretty big rock.
I guess moving the location of the spring holders will add some preload to the torsion springs?

With the spring holder moved forward, wont the spring be to short???

Kind of an afterthought by Yamaha.
Although I'm not sure as the rails have a new part number for 2011.
But that might only be for the extra hole that I just drilled in.
Might be a couple reasons why??
Get more idler wheel further forward to reduce the insane slider wear up front.
But best reason is likely to get the hook up and away from the idler.
Iders can fall off.
I think they have been seeing several hooks on the XTX get wrecked and or pushed forward, then the spring arm locks up, spears and worse case breaks stuff.
I just pulled a rock out of mine. Not too big but just jammed in perfect.
Ground down the inside of my inner wheel too.
Eventually would have come out maybe pushed my hook forward?
Lucky, it could have been worse.

I'll let you know soon.
I think it will be ok as the 2009-2010 coil springs are kinda long and stick out way past the old hook.

How about the bottom of the shock?? Did you do anything to that to cure the dreaded stud wear issue??

I don't think I can stop that fully.
When I get a new track, different stud pattern, that will be the end of it.
Although, I did put the marginal snow wheel kit on the front, but moved the wheels to the inside to keep the center of the track supported more.
And... Since I had tried Ulmers track rub bearing kit last year. (the bearings can't take that abuse and failed fast)
I kept the theory going, used the same longer bolt but used soild steel collars in place of where the bearings were. So far so good.
The studs backs are hitting and rubbing away at the steel more than my shock. Regardless, stupid place for a shock mount being so low at the impact zone of the track.

Yea, I tried the bearings also. Major fail, that area takes allot of abuse. I was doing a track swap anyway this year so no more studs for me. I filed down the rough spots on the shock. Well see how it goes this year. Might be time to look for a Cat skid. I see the MNT guys having great success with them.

I think the new rails have the holes mounted lower in the rails so the wheels drop further. This will increase the life span of the hyfax. That was the only difference that I could find and really only benefit.

Stock XTX 2009, 1100 springs are long enough no prob.
I checked it out before I pulled them off and put stiffer 1500s on. Nice!! can't wait to try it tomorrow.

What about the Polaris skid from the Switchback 144, aren't they using a tip up rail too?
