guys im not saying that there is anything wrong with US made and i didnt say yamahas didnt have there issues my point is this. who builds the most relaible snowmobiles? yamaha i have a sled shop and i used to have skidoos and arcticcats and my shop is full of broken arctics and polaris sleds one blown ptec 800 all yamahas i have to sevrice need just an oil change-and hyfax- thats a problem. i drive a new proudly US made gmc sierra, point here is i find it hard to belive anyone when they say there is going to be a yamacat these are just my thoughts it could very well happen. it would be interesting wouldnt it, but i cant see yamaha sacrificing there reliability reputation for arcticat. a company flooded with recalls and fires - reverse issues they still cant figure out ect.
Yamaha builds reliable Motors and drives but the rest of the sled has issues. Sure Cat has recalls they admit to the problem and then fix it. Yamaha just deny's that there is a problem in the first place. If you never admit to a fault then I guess in Yami's eyes they have none. Easy to say Cat has the most recalls and Yami has none. But on the flip side of that it could be said that that Cat looks after the sled after it sold at their expense and Yami says there is no problem but will sell you updated parts to fix it at your expense.
I get tired of this Yami is the best sled and the others are all junk thought process, its blue blinders! I ride a Yamaha because of the Motor. I've put up with the rest of the sleds little quirks because of that. Saying that Yamaha would sacrifice their reputation to do a deal with Cat is ludicrous. Both could learn a lot from the other. Yamaha's are far from perfect!
I've owned and rode both. My Yami has a great motor but My Cats had the best suspension. Marry a Yami motor drive train to a Cat chasiss and you will have the best sled that I would buy in an instant, well at least after the first years run. Never buy a first year sled no matter what the brand.
