I hope they checked that kids diaper before they stuck him in your helmet!
I'm a big believer in Yamaha but I haven't had a Yambotomy(rhymes with lobotomy). I can buy used or other brands or I can skip new offerings until they have proven themselves worthy of half the hype(hmm ............ why am I thinking Sidewinder).
Reputations fall a lot faster than they are built, it is easier to keep a customer than to find a new one, long term relationships are where its at. The Cat/Yamaha kissy-fest won't go anywhere if it isn't built on trust from the outset, they have said as much in the videos. But they forgot the customers trust. As much as they talked about working things out between them they seem to have forgotten the consumer. I for one would like to see these companies own up to their responsibilities which for now appear to have slipped into a crack between the two companies that neither is doing anything about.
I hope your issues are resolved fairly and that means quickly; they have cashed the cheque!

Your problem is the dealer you have. Find one that cares.
Seriously thought so and is why I held a meeting with general manager, service manager and the mechanic worked on it who is now in sales. They brought it to regional manager and that's where it ended. Hopefully you're right and when I write corporate I get some solid feedback. I just hope it's not the feedback that I've gotten already.
Are you seriously telling me that dealership could not get you warranty or goodwill coverage on a actuator? Then they had a meeting about it? There is a phone number in your Owners manual. Call it. I feel there has got to be more to this. A actuator is a guaranteed no questions asked warranty item at every dealership I know of.Seriously thought so and is why I held a meeting with general manager, service manager and the mechanic worked on it who is now in sales. I'm out of warranty now, but have not driven it since service before warranty ran out. Beside laps with my son in the yard. Dealership had never did anything about steering slop and father in law and I took machine apart to investigate issues and fixed steering slop but needed actuator. I had the meeting before bringing the machine in due to lack of service questions and actuator issue. They had machine on wed, they reinvestigated steering slop and actuator, apparently added loc-tite to nut and a bushing and I never got info about yet. I had already troubleshot actuator and was my main concern but they said the $400 shop time to check all issues and they'd eat that but I had to pay $200 for bushings, actuator and think the air delivery as they overnight end it.
Were you in warranty when actuator failed? Did you buy the sled at this dealer? Why did they overnight ship a actuator? That alone could account for half the $200.
What bushings were replaced? How many miles on sled?

I just pm'd you the details so this thread doesn't get away from where Mr up North had set it to go
I appreciate that thanks. That said there is definitely a communication gap between Yamaha and the customers/dealers that has gotten worse in my opinion. I do believe this gap is the reason for threads such as Mr UpNorths and yours. Maybe the reason is Liability. I dont know but back when the first Phazers had all the issues Yamaha addressed them and it did not take so long as it has with Viper. Yamaha has stated about internet "Rumors" this has happened because they are not effectively communicating through the use of the system of Technical Updates with their dealers and therefore the customers. So some of the customers have turned to here out of desperation looking for answers. Some of this could be because procedure and documentation is not being followed by the customers and dealers. We as customers MUST follow procedure to make the system work.
Always:
Contact your dealer with issue
If no or unsatisfactory response try a different dealer
If still no results ensure complaint was registered by Yamaha with a claim # and call Yamaha direct (#in Owners Manual) explaining the situation in a civil professional manner.
If still unsatisfied and no results Post the issue here. Keep in mind that once it goes Public it very well could effect any "Goodwill" gesture by Yamaha or your Dealer since their reputation could be tarnished by posting in Public. I have never seen or heard of this happening and has never happend to me but it could so try to keep it professional and factual.
I trust the system Yamaha has in place. Have seen it work and the Phazer is the perfect example. Were alot of changes made to those sleds within 2 years of introduction. Lets hope that even if change is not made Physically to the sleds that Yamaha can at least come up with a way to put minds at ease with dealing with a potential issue.
