My dealer told me today that Yamaha is telling there dealer's to tell the people with ripsaw's not to stud. Has any one else herd this or has any body had any trouble running topend and had stud's hitting the tunnel or exghanger. I put a ripsaw with 144 1.325's in the center on my 03, hope i won't any trouble.

My dealer said it's OK. It could raise some legal issues being that I bought the studs from my dealer with him knowing what I was installing them in :? Comon sense plays a part like keeping the track properly adjusted.

Yamaha rep that i know told me earlier this fall that it would be ok if i keep track tight but dealer say's now that Yamaha has changed there mind's, Thought maybe there has some problem's that i haven't heard about yet.

Well now the Warrior joins the new Viper as sleds you cannot stud, in the case of the Viper / 1.25 it is true. Who the hell at Yamaha is checking little details like this prior to final production approval.

The reason Yamaha or any other manufacture doesn't want you to stud your track is that it will void your warranty as the potential is there for stud damage as we have all seen on other sleds. I believe track manufactures will also have a disclosure for studding as well.

That dealer and rep are both on CRACK!! LOL

I got a buddy who works for Camoplast in dubuque IA. they are working on a studded version of the ripsaw!!

He has one he is supposed to test in his sled but the studs would be too long for the Polaris he has!! he want to give it away!! To my other buddy!!

Stud Ripsaw?

Then they should offer the Ripsaw as an option and another track for those who would like to stud their 1000 cc High Performance Top of the line sled. Until they do that, they may want to warranty the damage to the tunnels that is apparently happening to some.

The damage is due to not keeping the track tight!!

Or too long of studs.. I would guess if yamaha did want you to stud they would only want you to install 1.325 instead of 1.375 and 1.40 that alot are using!

I am going to try to get ahold of the person that i know at yamaha tomorrow and see if any thing has changed since i talked to him last, they may be just trying to cover there asses because of the people that don't keep a close watch on the track tension. If i find any thing out i will post it.

Yamaha will not warranty any track with studs. If a customer wants to stud their track, they should understand any damage resulting from studs will not, and should not be covered under warranty. I think everyone already knows this?!

Warranty

Sorry you feel that way. I think you are foolish to think people would buy this sled and not stud it. Especially, if you ride anywhere in the East, where there is plenty of ice. I find it very hard to stop on ice without studs and never would consider owning a high performance sled without studding it. I am a loyal Yamaha owner and would like to see a little more effort on their part. I would not expect them to cover my track, but I think they could perhaps design the sled so that if it is studded, damage would not occur to the sled. Then perhaps we wouldn't have to worry about warranty.

Viper , will they cover it if it is not stud related like lugs ripping off

Just remember, both Camoplast and Yammie will tell you every year that you can't stud a machine. Woody's will be the devil's advocate on the other shoulder telling you that it's for your safety and traction.

I believe that the approach angle is different on the warrior from the 03's, however, I wouldn't see it as any different from my 03 RX shorty made into warrior. The clearances are tight running 1.325 studs, but keeping factory tension specs on the track doesn't cause any issues, but I've only got three rides in.

You will negate any warranty with the heat shield, tunnel, track etc unless it's something like the rivets that gave out like last year's.

Keep it tight and you'll be ok!
