"Yamaha" Throttle Lever Install on Viper


I jumped back and forth between my viper and vector all season so I never was able to forget how much nicer the japan lever felt.

Agreed. Both the Apex and Viper were new to me this year. I was amazed at how good the Apex throttle was compared to my old XTC. Then I got the viper. The pressure is no issue. Its just the length. The ergonomics of the Apex throttle are just awesome in comparison. I could live with the viper throttle, but I want a perfect sled...:rolleyes:
 
Travis let me know when ready to ship, the throttle is the only thing I have an issue on viper great idea to use Japanese lever
 
I would be interested in this for my wife's zr 7000 she kept complaining about a sore thumb at the end of a good day of riding!!
For myself I have had no issues with the stock lever but my hands are double the size of hers!!
Her major complaint was that the lever was too far away from the handle bars and that it had too much pressure!
Is the japan lever or your set up closer with less tension?

My prototype from Rock should be here today for me to test and finalize wire lengths. Will post some pictures once it gets here!

Lets try this for an explanation of what I'm trying to accomplish with this product. If you just set your hand down on the table the angle between your index finger and thumb is naturally less than 90 degrees. To increase this angle closer to 90 degrees it requires effort. The ergonomics of the stock viper lever requires operator to constantly pull thumb towards 90 degrees while the ergonomics of the yamaha japan lever allows your thumb to lie closer to the natural position of less than 90 degrees.

I think the return spring on the viper throttle bodies may be a little stiffer than a japan return spring. Beings the japan lever is a little shorter the throttle pull may be a tad harder, but the comfort from the positioning certainly makes up for it.
 
The plug and play adapter has arrived!

The factory plug is housed inside the switch. Once that is removed it's an easy plug and play install.

The box gets zip tied to harness.

Going to finalize pricing this week. Will likely offer a complete kit with throttle levers and also offer just the plug and play adapter for those that have a throttle laying around.

Worked up some numbers on this product and pricing will be as follows:

The complete kit will be $110. Kit includes plug and play adapter, throttle lever (used or new aftermarket as supplies permit), and hardware to install the lever.
Plug and play harness alone will be $60.

There's been alot of views on this thread, and now that pricing has been posted how many people want a kit? If interested in a kit please "Like" this post so I can get an idea on how many kits to produce on my first run.
 
I just want a hotter thumb warmer!!!


I should mention that rock bumped up the juice for the high setting. He has had complaints of thumb not getting hot enough. The low setting remains at factory output.
