ZX-2 2500 mile review

Good write up, I feel the same on all fronts and I think I will remove my monoshock on my new apex and install the ZX2 from my RX because I love the suspension that much.

My only real beef is getting the pins in the 1/4 setting is tough and I would venture to say almost impossible on the trail. Other then that this is a perfect skid, nothing else comes close and I have ridden a lot of them.

Its also refreshing to see a rider like yourself buy the rough trail sled and actually use it for that vs buying a GT then complaining about bottoming out or buying a RTX and complain about the stutter bumps. Kudos to you and between you and mdkuni you really put the Zx2 through the test thsi winter!

I have 2500 miles on mine and just cant ride as hard as you guys with low snow and I take trips with anyobdy and usually get slower riders then me. I'm jsut happy to be riding but would love to ride with some guys that really push the sleds like I like to. Enjoy the summer!

Hey guys, does the sled have to be set up so high? The ride height appears to be much higher than stock in the first pic.
My A-arms are almost parallel on my sled.

I would say the ride height is pretty similar to stock. Maybe a bit higher but not enough to tell when riding. I believe it handles the same now as before. Also that picture was in the beginning of season when my floats had a bit more pressure in them, therefore raising the front ride height.

I dont understand people saying the gt is not good for rough trails,i have not even had my shocks revalved yet,but will over the summer with carver, and i can smash thru the 1-2 footers with ease, its seems that the more you throw at this 07 gt,the more it likes,i did install the heavier 5.5 ohlins spring, but what i find with that spring is it makes the little junk more aparent, meaning it chatters my teeth more now, than before with the 4.9 stock spring. My biggest shortfall with any mono skid is they dont like to drop into those large square edged holes,or those ones when you come down a hill around a corner and it drops down into the hole, now that is when you will feel your spine!! But i am just amazed with how well this apex gt i now have goes thru and around turns, even compared to my xp8x i traded in,ya its heavy when you get it stuck, but in the tight twisty trails,i really like the extra weight over the skis, and its lower C.of Gravity,as this sled rails around turns, something the xp did not do,on the other hand, the one little thing i dont like about my gt is when i am hammering thru that 1-2 foot junk i talked about my knees hurt after a while, compared to the much higher c of gravity on the doo, your knees are not bent as hard on the doo with taller seat, but i will put up with it for the handling. Oh ya how much speed di the zx2 skid scrub off top end compared to mono.
