Cold starting problem - undocumented fix??

I only glug in a little bit, but that is good advice. I will try no drygas next time. (Hopefully, it won't be that cold next time!!) GW

Cold starting problem - undocumented fix??

I made another trip to Quebec this week and the weather was the coldest my Attak has seen so far. Day 1, -2F, sled started OK, but idle went very low before coming up to high idle and then red light went out and sled ran great. Day 2, -5 and high winds, sled starts, runs 10 seconds, and...

    Mono shock information….Does anyone have??

Re - 1000 mile shock work... I can tell you that the oil in my shock was junk when he changed mine. When we were snocross racing, we would rebuild every two weekends, but that is a lot more stress. Still, when you think of the work that a single shock does, you can't expect that oil to...

    Strange chaincase leak on Attak

Follow the instructions in the manual. It has worked fine for me. The chain doesn't really seem to stretch as much as other sleds I have owned. GW

    Mono shock information….Does anyone have??

Any good shock guy can rebuild the shock. Experience is the key. Every Monoshock owner should be rebuilding after 1000 miles. The oil was pretty gross. As for re-valving, that is the trick. Hopefully, someone will come out with a progressive spring next year. GW

    Strange chaincase leak on Attak

I read your post before and the thought crossed my mind. But there was no evidence of that. In fact, now 300 miles later, there is no more leaking. I am very careful with chain tension (after blowing several chains and chaincases in Snocross on Doos). I am back to the theory that the oil...

    Strange chaincase leak on Attak

No chance. I had the oil changed at the 500 mile service. This was a lot of oil. Puddles on the ground...

    Strange chaincase leak on Attak

My sled cleared 2000 miles this week in Quebec. But I had my first problem (besides wheels, hi-fax wear, bar heaters...). After a long (40 mile) run at high speeds (85+), I noticed some oil under my right foot. At the next clubhouse, I pulled the panel to find a puddle under the chaincase...

    Mono shock information….Does anyone have??

I went to Dr. Smoothride in Mass. He rebuilt and changed the oil in mine. He also changed the number one valve washer to stiffen up compression. It is a noticeable improvement. GW

How Much For 1st Service at your dealership?

This being my first Yamaha and first four stroke (except my Elite), I went to my local dealer. I also wanted to get the certified service to validate my extended warranty in case I need it. Bill was $277, including new hifax and changing the rear spring (I supplied the spring). I have since...

    07 Snocross???

Seems like the logical choice would be the Phazer with an 850 twin based on the 426YZF motor???? I don't think it would add that much weight. Now that would be a pretty tough competitor!

    fuel milage

Just back from another trip to Quebec on the Attak. Riding with two Rev 600s (HO not SDI). At slow speeds (40-50) they were getting about 18 mpg vs about 16 with the Attak. At higher speeds (60-70), they were getting about 14 vs 16 for me. At top trail speeds (70-80) one of the Revs was...

anyone put a handlebar riser on apex/attak

I installed the Rox riser. The nice thing about it is that there is a Yammy specific adaptor that lets you use the chrome ring and not drill out the original in case you want to return to normal. Mine is used to turn my Attak into more of a cruiser, but you could certainly use it to pivot...

    Pilot ski question

The stock Yammy rubber fits fine. There is some ski lift, but that happens with all skis. If that is too much, you can always try the Doo rubber, but you will have to cut it, I believe.

    Pilot ski question

Mine have been awesome. 1200 miles and absolutely no darting! Use the stock rubber block. When cornering and the inside ski lifts (fairly often) you will see the tip lift up like you are taking off, but it is no big deal. GW

Attak vs Warrior for Trail Cruisers?

I was having those same concerns about my Attak until I installed the Rox Riser on it. I have moved the bars back about 4-5 inches and it allows me to just unload my knees enough to enjoy those 250+ mile days. And you can still stand up and pound if you feel like it, but the trails in Que have...

    Quebec next week?

The Hotel Universal also has individual locking garages (with heat!) for your sleds, indoor pool with hot tub and on-site massages! And from greater Boston, it really isn't that far to head to Jackman or RdLoup. Planning to leave Tuesday if anyone is going to be up in the area... GW
