My RX1 2004 shorty has lotsa slop too!!

I also drove my 1st 600 REV this weekend. My buddy wanted to try out my RX1 shorty, and I never rode a REV before, so what the heck. 3 hours later, I had terrible leg cramps and wanted my RX1 back. Had to beat him off my sled. No REV for me in the future. I will stick to riding my couch (RX1). :D

I took the factory secondary spring with the pink line on it and changed the spring location from 3-3 to 6-2. Gives more lower end torque and easier engagement. I like this setting. Bender performance has a secondary spring for the RX1 shorty that they say works better than the white warrior...

Ran the sled for about 150km yesterday with the pink spring advanced to 80 degrees 6-2. Worked very well. Went down one road with absolutely no traction, looked down at the speedo and saw 227km/hour and reving 10,200rpm. Too bad the machine couldn't do 227km/hour. Got it buried in approx 4 feet...

I think 6-2 is 80 degrees. I will try it and see if I like it, if not, off comes the secondary again.

I am the dumb one :roll: There is a small dab of pink on mine. I changed the secondary spring to 6-2 from 3-3. Have not had a chance to test it yet. I'll try the machine out tomorrow and let you know what I feel.

Just got my 04 shorty back from from the dealer. Yamaha says the primary clutch noise is normal. Basically they are saying, "we have your 12,000.00 hard earned Canadian dollars and were not going to do a darn thing about it".

The stock black spring on the secondary sheave is located in numbers 3-3. Is there a better combination of numbers? What is the difference in color for the spring. I was told to use a grey/silver spring, and locate it in numbers 2-6...Is this right, and if so what changes will I notice. Thanks guys.

Where was your advice a month ago. I put my mirrors on using their template, and when I was done, I had a nice view of the ground. I was lucky enough that I could drill one hole a little lower and had a couple of flat black round plastic plugs that I glued into place to cover my holes. Thanks...

My feeling is this: For 12,000.00 canadian dollars, there should be no noise. My 04 shorty primary clutch is noisey and I was told to live with it. Thanks YAMAHA.

It is very harsh when engaging. It acts as though the machine does not want to move till about 4500rpm. It is going to the dealer today. The noise from the primary clutch is annoying when idling. I am also getting black belt marks on my belt cover and some squeeling at idle.

the spring was only moved on the outside to the number 6 so I guess you would be right as to the degrees being at 90. Is this a bad thing?? What color spring do you recommend and at which holes work the best. What should the top RPM be??

My 04 shorty primary is very noisey at idle. Is there a fix for this one as well??

My 04 shorty has almost 500km on it and the primary clutch at idle is annoyingly loud. For these kind of bucks Yamaha has demanded for these sleds, they could make it quieter. Sounds like shes gonna blow!!! :shock:

My 04 shorty has a whine also. Mine sounds more like belt noise. I did notice some black belt marks on the bottom side of my belt guard where my belt seems to be hitting. I don't think that is normal.
