The original outer wheels do not have removable bearings. I replaced them with Yamaha (Yellow) wheels. They are exactly the same as the original only the bearings are removable.

I have had an 03 and an 04. Both are the same when they are warm you have to give them a little throttle when you start them. I also had that whine you describe on both machines. Never heard it at an idle though just at times when your driving. Sound normal to me. Enjoy

Just did mine. Careful when all the washers fall out. There are 4. One on each side of the rail.

I installed one of those W things. Didn't work very well. Pry open the wallet and buy a shorter flap. Also looks much better.

Tonight we were checking the skid bearings on my friends RS Venture. Found that every wheel has non removable bearings. Can't believe that Yamaha would expect you to replace the whole wheel every time a $3 bearing fails. Are there aftermarket wheels for the RS Venture with removable bearings ????

The instructions given with the block heater are good. It is installed in the coolant hose that runs down directly back of the oil tank, right by dip stick for your chain case. Here is a good tip that someone told me. Take a couple of blocks of wood and a clamp and clamp the hose near the top...
