Wow just awesome Mike....
Hearing this, using the lighter setup similar to Apex days, and then to see the resulting COOLER clutches is reminding me of my Apex amazing clutches and belt life!
Imagine if the damn issue all along has been these Winder clutches!
What I would love to see you try...
8JP wont last with big power, not too mention you will be needing to clean tunnel and clutches often, that belt is by far the dirtiest/grimiest belt ever made!
Dan
TAPP will help fix alot....and you can run it with stock secondary if you wanted to save some cash but likely best setup would be to add the pro4 secondary too.
I still think other setups alot cheaper can work well for 270 and under tunes. The TEAM clutches on Cats do alot better then their YAM...
Happened to just about everyone here too. 2017 very few cats sold and a ton of winders for that very reason, good ole YAM clutching. Turns out YAM likely sourced things out to china...lol
If I buy another 998, it will certainly be with TEAM clutches.

Hey Vic!
Look very closely at the new XS belts for any imperfections....
Also do me a favor and order a shaft saver from Travis, it does have loctite on it but I like the extra insurance of this device from BOP.
Also I would recommend a top gear and to be really safe a new chain.
Let me know...
For snap corner to corner rev it higher.....then rev it closer to 8900 for the big trails, but the snap wont be there.
This is why the bundle tunes is so crucial IMO....you then get best of all worlds.
Dan
8jp pretty much under 100.....also those stock belts are ultra grimy, dirty running...never seen to much belt dust.
XTX and Gates longer lasting up to 400-600 miles depending on how hard they were treated, gates would delaminate the top cog.
Ultimax just always kept going....I read same thing...
Damn that sucks Mike.....It seems they may have a bad batch??
I would contact Timken as they will want to hear about these issues.
Will be a good chance to try out the new quick warranty replacement.
Dan
Ultimax has always come with a 1 yr warranty, but used to take awhile to get it. Now they offer a new way of getting the belt quickly, very slick and another reason the ultimax is great.
Dan
Always get mine from OEMcycles on ebay and he always uses a proper size box and packing so cant get hurt.
That almost looks like it got "back bent".
Dan
Very wise to install the stiffeners if running FUEL out back of tunnel IMO. Mine was fine with LinQ bag only on my 129 without stiffeners when pounded hard through rough stuff and full of clothes, so not super heavy.
Even BRP wants their GADE or longer tunnel sleds to have fuel caddies mounted...
True but with Dash flash it's alot more customizable and not only in HR meter. I really loved having all the features mostly cause I am abit of a geek when it comes to tech..lol
