I'll second the Schmidt Bros. Clutch kit. They have great customer service. I have the comfort clutch kit with custom helix. Works great for me. I wanted a lower engagement. The thing I like most about Schmidt Bros is they specialize in Yamaha only.
Yes the rubber gasket that the tube goes thru is what needs to be replace but before you do that the holes need to be lined up so it doesn't continue to leak. Loosen up the chaincase bolts and align the holes with the reverse gearbox then install your new rubber tube gasket.
Yes that would be the one. I had the same leak on my sled. It took me awhile one summer to find where the damn oil was coming from. I new it was chaincase oil but it was hard to pinpoint were.
Yamaha has a tech tip or bulletin on the chaincase leak. There is a little barrel type seal between the chaincase and reverse case and on some of the phazer's they didn't get lined up properly which caused them to leak while riding down the trail. All you have to do is realign the two cases and...
I would agree with the slim jim dooley's. I have been using them for a couple seasons and they really help the phazer turn real well. They do increase the steering effort at slow speeds but I think it is worth it.
I will let ya know how it works out for me once we get some snow to ride it. I'm really curious what my top speed will be with the custome helix. Because the primary clutching I did lowered my top speed due to the fact the engine doesn't over rev now.
bombapolayamaha well if you get tired of the sway bar let me know and I'll give it a try. Yeah this did start out as a clutch post and some how we got side tracked to sway bars.
Vermonter I know the price tag on the sway bar is steep but I also have one of his original sway bars and it is probably the best mod I did to my phazer. Cornering is greatly improved and sidehilling is much easier. It takes a ton of chassis roll away which gives you a much more stable feel in...
No I haven't had the primary machined to get more MPH I figured I would wait and see what the complete clutch kit will do for me now. Take it one step at a time. Plus I would really like to get there custome sway bar. Chris at SMB said it makes a huge difference on the handling of the sled. He...
I just adjusted my sway bar to full hard. So I will report back with my results. But after talking to Schmidt brothers they claim there sway bar fixes all the ill handling problems the phazer has. So if my sway bar doesn't help any I might just bit the bullet and get one of the Schmidt brothers...
I have the smb comfort clutch set up. I started last year with the first part of the clutch kit which was a spring and rollers. I wanted the clutch to engage a little lower than stock and it does that. The rollers stop the clutching from over revving the engine. I couldn't afford to get the...
Hey Sherlock! The Phazer GT models comes with a 20T top gear. Why don't you just get one of those? According to my sorces the Phazer sled's came with a 17,18,or 20t top gear depending on the model. Hope this helps.
just take it easy and it will come to you no need to learn overnight. it takes years imo think about how much actual seat time ya get before you are off it again, every year ya learn a little more and then ya relearn the next year.
I will agree with you on that. Each year (this being my...
Ok so I need some help from the experienced riders here. I'm new to trail riding and this is my second season. I have only about 1500 miles under my belt. The only real problem I have with my 07 Phazer gt is the ski likes to lift up in tight turns. I do hang off the side of the sled to help with...
Derek I'm running the slim jim dooleys on stock ski's and love them. My sled was pushing in the turns and darting bad with the stock runners/carbides. So I watch the slim jim dooley video at woody's website and figured I would give them a try. I was very impressed. My sled would actually turn...
