Yes I will buy my RS again. I did the same changes as Handy and same result. This year I'm still on my 1st set after 2700 Km and I'm definitely good to go for another 2000 Km. I have 7000 Km on this sled and still run like new.
I did clips mine this year but did not really get the chance to try it. I did 90 km so far and it seems more quiet, more snow going in (you have to cut all the closed windows) which should prevent the hyfax of heating up and wearing to fast. Even my wife noticed a difference. I got the clips...
I do agree with Twomorestrokes. Last year I just did exactly what he did. It is almost day and night after those little adjustments. For the front shock spring preload what I was told is to lift up the front end(skis not touching the ground) and loosen it until the spring has no tension on it...
I little bit less than you Flipper, 4000miles on my Vector. Still, it has been a great ride. After doing the suspension adjustments, this sled became more agile and fun to drive over the winter. The gas mileage is excellent; 20mpg average.
I had no problem in general. The hyfax were replaced...
gnip, I was one of the first to get that new clutch kit installed. I have put 3000 miles on my Vector since installed. At start it was really quiet but over 2000 miles it started to rattle but not as bad as it was. It did not worsen since. I'm not sure if it will be the final fix but at least it...
Blackbay, how did you find out about this? Did you find it out by yourself or someone else? Anyway, it is awesome. I hated to start the engine just to check the gas level. Thanks for the tip.
I had the TORS problem at least 3 to 4 times per ride. My dealer called Yamaha and they told him to do all the following adjustments, the throttle cable, TPS, throttle lever, adjust the RPM at 1400 and sync the carbs. Since then I have had no problems and already put 2000 miles since these...
I did have the new clutch kit installed on my Vector since the beginning of January. I have been testing the new clutch kit for Yamaha and they wanted at least a couple of thousand miles and get some feedback before releasing this kit to all dealers. I just came back from my snowmobile trip this...
I did around 110mph with a Vector on a hard packed trail. Maybe the Viper showed few more mph, but a SX Viper 03 could not keep up with me when we race together. Both machines are stock.

It's the same for me. Last weekend my friend and I when for a ride and we did meet other snowmobilers just at the beginning of 5 miles lake. It was the perfect condition and the ideal snow for a quick race or to see how the Vector can get by with other sleds in the same category. Three were 600...
My brother has a Rage and had the same problem. It talked to his dealer and him said that few people with the Rage model had the same complaint. The dealer found out that is the front suspension shock which act only on compression not on rebound. He replaced it on the warranty and since then...
Slush Monster, No I did not pay for nothing. I mentioned the problem to my dealer and he called Yamaha and asked if there is a fix and Yamaha said that yes that they are aware of the noise. They said that they are testing a kit on the new 2006 models. My dealer asked them if they could send him...
Ok, I talked to my dealer and he said it is normal when it's cold. It is because you draw more current to the battery and the computer let recharge the battery before and will turn back the tach and the headlights after. It's around a 3 minutes delay. It's not necessary that will happen...
I talked to my dealer and he did called Yamaha but the manufacture will not release the parts number until it has been tested for awhile. They are waiting for us the users to let them know if we have any problem with the new parts installed and they also want to know how long it will last. I'm...
Lucas, just read this quote and you can also go on the post (The fix for 2006 clutches is...) it will give all details you need. For the code 84, it is your TORS. Probably your throttle cable doesn’t have the sufficient clearance means too tight. You are due for your first servicing so...
Well Tork, I support you on that one. Like you said, clutch part will definitely wear out and those O-ring will probably compress. But those O-ring will be cheap and normal wear on a clutch its all brand sled the same problem. Now we just have to wait and see how long it will last. When I say...
Tork, you were right about an O-ring kit to fix the clutch noise for 2006. I was suspicious too when I talk to the parts guy at my dealer. They did receive a complete clutch kit for my sled and also the famous O-ring kit. The complete kit sent by Yamaha was only if needed but the mechanic said...
I'm not sure if my wife could handle an RX1 but she certainly can handle a 700 SXR with added parts for more performance. She is 44 and loves power and nothing else than Yamaha. I decided to go with the Vector because I was due for a replacement. I was going to get an RX1 but after all the...
Sorry kviper, I should have been more precise. It is a clutch kit that they sent to my dealer. I think it included the spring, spiders, bushings all parts needed inside except the casing. So it will look the same outside except for the inside of the clutch. My dealer said it would be better at...
