Aroostook County got slammed. 17 inches in St. Agatha and 22 inches in Fort Kent. They already had a nice base, so, that would be the place to go. I'd call the Gateway Motel in Madawaska to try to get info on trails.
I certainly agree with you in that I have a problem with people giving incorrect info. As for my personal credentials I have put on over 30,000 miles in the last 8 years on 7 Yamaha snowmobiles. I have 1800 miles on my current short flap Attak with no temp warning light issues. Due to low...
It's not a matter of being smart enough to watch for it, it's a matter of it's not necessary. Given proper ride in height you don't have to worry about "serious chunks" being thrown or decreasing the cooling factor. I just spent a good part of last week riding 1000+ miles and everyone I rode...
OK, this is a very simple fix. Since the snowflap doesn't need the full length (plenty of length at the cut line) why would anyone go through the trouble of "watching out" for it when backing off a trailer or in deep snow. Just simply cut it off at the line. The flap looks even, functions...
The RTX just flat-out rips!!! It does so stock so I've gotta believe if you, uh hum, maybe sorta added an Ulmer stage 2 clutch set up will be even that much better. Nice choice! You'll be pleased!
I put Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my Attak. A search on them here will get you info on the part numbers, etc. Significant difference from the stock bulbs for just over $30. An excellent upgrade. They're easy to find as well. I got mine at the local Wal-Mart.
You're right about the scenarios you described. What I'm suggesting eliminates them. In a perfect world we could all be in a nice flat and packed snow area when we need to back-up. Unfortunately, those situations aren't always there. When reversing direction on or off trail it is not...
Here's the solution: Get the '07 snowflap and cut it to the line. It can't get caught in the track when backing up, it offers plenty of length when riding and the extra rigidity keeps it in place very well. Machzed wrote that it won't get caught. Unfortunately it will as I regretably found...
By all means, go if possible. To ride the unmarked logging roads would require someone familiar with them. However, there is plenty of good trail and bed riding to be had north of Caribou. Have at it and have fun.
I just got back today after putting 230+ miles on. The riding was excellent on the railroad beds and logging roads. The woods trails still need more snow which is forecast over the next several days. We rode the railbed from Washburn to Van Buren came back to the Van Buren Cove area of Long...
Long Lake area received 7+ inches yesterday. They are riding on Long Lake except in front of the Sporting Club. Cold temps all the rest of the week with the potential of snow this weekend.
I put Simmons skis on my Attak. I put them on my Warrior a few years back and found a big difference. The biggest thing you'll notice is it won't dart like the stock ones do. Other fixes would be to get the dual-runner carbides or other aftermarket ski. There are several threads on this...
The part about your wheels delaminating I totally understand. I rode an '06 Apex GT all last season and had to have mine replaced due to defective wheels. Easy fix in just a few minutes. The other stuff seems as though there are some set up issues. I had the same sled, same year, same state...
Without the benefit of actually trying one you can only go by what you hear. However, if you've ever ridden in a big truck with an air-ride seat you've noticed how nice it is. I believe there's a good chance it will be a great product. Time will tell.
You're looking at about $1000 extra for the upgraded shock package (give or take a little). I opted for the standard version for a few reasons. First, I prefer the blue sled which didn't have the GT option. Second, I had an Apex GT last season and didn't spend much time at all making...
