So I picked up a smashed low mile ‘16 Apex this summer from a local ish guy who parts out 4 stroke yammies. Included in the deal was most of the parts to put it back together, with the remainder coming from @hibshman25 at Barn of Parts. Thanks again Travis.
My last Apex was an ‘11 XTX, which I loved with the exception of rear skid compliance, even with the Star kit. This time around I wanted an extended tipped-rail Mono skid to try, so that’s what I built for it. The best Deltabox II/III ride I’ve experienced has come from properly selected dual-rate spring combos on the KYB shock with decent valving, so no need to reinvent the wheel here, that’s what I went with.
I also picked up another stainless header from @Srxspec for this build to get away from any future EXUP headaches. It’s also a nice modest power gain that works well with his MOD airbox and appropriate PCV mapping. I ran this combo on my ‘11 Ape as well.
Here’s some pics to show how it started, how it went, and how it’s going now. When I get some real seat time I’ll post an update on how it all works together.
Cheers

Time will tell, but I don’t see a good reason why it shouldn’t be exactly what I’m looking for. I have a habit of building sleds exactly the way I want them when the big Y won’t do it for me. LolGood find, easy fix and glad it works the way you want it to!
