06 and 07 Chaincase cover pics

So far - yamaha has not given me a new case cover and I had the issue twice last year. The dealer says i need to call the yama 800 #.

i have my 06 cover off for a track swap and it looks like its sealing better than the one in the pic. i didnt notice any seeping either. i guess ill keep an eye on it. now if we could get them to fix the headlights we would be all set!

Not to get off topic here, but what is wrong with your headlights?? Mine are rock steady and point into the trees when I am going fast on the trails!! I am gonna adjust them down..they do have adjusters don't they?

the spread between the low beam and high is too much. high is in the trees and low isnt high enough. adjust one and both change.

umm, those bulbs have been used in all kinds vehicles since the coming of christ. It's the bulb that does the split. Nothing moves. Not the pod assembly. But I do know what you mean about the split! Maybe the reflectors in the pod affect it??.....

LOL!!! I find it's ok, as long as you aren't trying to go 100mph through the trails!!!! LaLaLa

its the design of the reflector. i never really noticed if its only at higher speeds or not, so i dont know if its the lifting like some people say it is. i hope it is, that i can fix!

I simply adjust mine on hi beam for best overal night riding.....then I agree the LOW BEAM is abit low,but I only will use LOW then for heavy snow riding/fog or very close tight running in trails behind another sled....

its really not all that bad,I agree it could be closer to eachother.

JUst adjust it downward and use hi beam most the time and it will be fine.

Well, I finally swapped out my 06 cover for the 07 cover on the weekend.
Here are a couple pics, showing the major difference around the bottom (which are at the top in the pics!). You can even see with the arrow where mine was barely touching.

It is still of my opinion that the gaskets CAN NOT be sucked in. It simply doens't make enough contact (as pictured) and allows it to 'weep'.

You never mentioned if this was done under warranty or if you had to pay? When I brought up the chaincase issue with my dealer he said he had not heard of this problem and claimed he had received no information from Yamaha. He is normally pretty good when it comes to this sort of thing. Has anyone in Canada had their chain case cover replaced from 06 to 07 under warranty?

Yes, warranty. Due to weepage.

i had mine replaced,, my daeler is awsome, I was one of the guys that had his blow up... what a mess,, dealer went out of his way to do the repaire, and now replaced again,, gasket was sucked in again,, would have happened again,, but we did a small test,,, my budddy has a RX1 and i have the Attak,, we touched both cases and mine was red hot, could not touch,, his cool as cool can be,, not sure if this was the issue but keeping an eye on the new one

just out of curiosity, did you guys with failures run gear lube or something lighter?

Mine never failed....nor did it appear to lose any fluid. It just always had a drop about to drip off the bottom of it.

I run a 50/50 mis of Dexron and 80w90.

Can you provide the part # for the new cover? I was at my dealer yesterday and we found the same part number for both the 06 and 07 covers.

I want to get one on order ASAP.
Thanks,

-Moose
