You get some bolts that screw into flywheel and puller. Watch for the key and don’t bugger up crank end. It is pretty easy pull. No impact needed.

The pan bolts are the same 4mm Allen that the side cover bolts are. Between the belly pan opening and having the Airbox removed I had access to all the bolts. The pan dropped a good inch and gave enough room to fully work small magnet on a stick all over. Your lucky that you have the original parts to match the chunks to, my sled someone installed the new updated gears an left some pieces laying around, one of which made it in the stator.

@grizztracks hey dude was wondering while I'm waiting on my idler gear if I'm able to go ahead and install starter...or does it make it easier to just wait? Also I have the gear puller wondering do I absolutely have to take flywheel off or am I able to eventually fit the starter, idler and larger starter gear together before putting cover back on? @cannondale27 too opinions? I'm just itching

You will know once you have Sidecover off whether damage was done to stator or flywheel. Take the Sidecover off now so if something else is broke you can order it. Drain engine and tank oil before removing cover.@grizztracks hey dude was wondering while I'm waiting on my idler gear if I'm able to go ahead and install starter...or does it make it easier to just wait? @cannondale27 one more thing if my gaskets for exhaust and gear cover are in good shape you suggest replacing em? just wondering if they're a one and done sorta thing...

Oh awesome! You get the new flash also? Remember turn key to crank and hold it there till engine is running for a bit or a 3 count crank. If no run do same again.right on man that's good to know they're in great shape just three teeth off idler that I was able to find and match up. So... add me to the list of people with starter kickback. 1200 miles on my 15 LTX w/MPI turbo. No updated flashes have been done and I had never had an issue until today. Starter kicked back 3 different times. After the third, it will not turn over anymore. I know you aren't supposed to turn the motor over backwards but I tried rocking the primary clutch back & forth a little and it is completely locked when trying the backwards direction. I am assuming the gear on the starter is stuck.
What is the root cause of this? Bad flash or faulty mechanical parts such as a bad starter?

hey brother, this situation has been the biggest whore of any sled I've ever dealt with. That's if it's the same situation...did you hear grinding at all? If so you might have some teeth damage on you starter idler gear, the stock ones were thin, #*$&@ little fuckers. Here's a list of things to check in the order I did...
1) check battery charge.
2) check fuses
3) replace starter relay
4) get latest flash update(do this any time you can)
now the fun #*$&@
5)get under the sled prop it right up. Remove access panel, remove oil filter, drain oil (both plugs).
6) take starter off its a cunt but not as bad as you'd think I did this on a frozen sheet of cement -40 all three my heater fucked.
Check the teeth on starter to see if they're worn down. If they are chances are damage to starter idler gear. Put your finger in hole your starter armature goes into and spin the idler gear all the way around feel for broken teeth.
I felt three broken on mine. I ordered knew updated idler gear. Take gear cover behind exhaust off find all bits of teeth, replace idler gear fill oil, new filter should be good I saved about 2 grand.
That's if it's the issue. I had the two guys on this thread help me and it was huge help.
Hope you figure it out pal
