....Also, just for your info buddah, his viper hit 91 with around 10 miles on it! Thanks for your opinion but if that's your fix, keep it to yourself!!!
That's not a fix...........not enough information to suggest one..........I was merely pointing out that these motors loosen up as they get completely broken in.
Other factors could be: rider weight; rider profile; etc., etc., etc........I'm a really big guy and even with NOS-PRO et al clutch work my XTX SE will top out somewhere right around 90......I weigh a lot(3 bills ready to ride) AND I catch quite a bit of air when riding( wide body + Tek-Vest) so I don't expect any more out of a sled that's geared and setup for a mix of trail and off.......as I told NOS-PRO "I'm too old and too fat to worry about racing.....I just want to ride it"

This thread is to express disappointment knowing that the discussion would likely cover a wide topic berth. I cannot see how the OE could have ever tested this configuration in any real world conditions.

I don,t comment much but i/ll put in my 2 cents . yesterday we were snowmobiling in an area and were told that the day before two teens did,t hit the wall...but each other at an approach...they both died....I bet their families and if they could talk that they wish the sleds could only do 20 mph!!!!

I was at the New York Shootout held in Woodgate, as it is every year in the beginning of Dec. The 2015 Viper RTX hit a speed of 96.15 MPH in the 1/4 @ 12.84 seconds. At 1000' the speed was 91.65 MPH @10.48 seconds. The sled was right out of the box with no break in time on the sled. The course had about 6" of hard packed snow on it. Those numbers seem very respectable to me.

We are talking the rtx le not a rtx se. Different gearing amongst other things.

Had my new viper with 60 miles on it today on lake and all I could get was 88 mph . My wife on 2008 nytro was flying by me with nytro . Nytro has way more top end .

we all have to remember as well that our speedos on these vipers are +/- 2 mph of our actual speed. apex, nytr0s,vectors are all out up to 12 mph up around the 90mph mark. my 09 apex was 10mph high at any speed verified by gps and radar. I'm not ignoring the fact that our sleds do have a little bit of a drag/gearing problem.

Agreed, but my nytro even being ten to fifteen mph off at 107 on the speedo is still 20 mph faster than my rtx le.we all have to remember as well that our speedos on these vipers are +/- 2 mph of our actual speed. apex, nytr0s,vectors are all out up to 12 mph up around the 90mph mark. my 09 apex was 10mph high at any speed verified by gps and radar. Speedo accuracy didn't matter for us today as the nytro was faster in the top end part of it . The viper is a 137 with ripsaw 2 track and nytro is a 121 with a ripsaw track . The nytro also has filters and programmer and heelclicker clutch kit . Just waiting to break viper in before I do the same to it as the nytro . The viper pulls on the nytro in a drag race but then the nytro pulls on it as its got more top end pull . Have to see once viper is set up the same as nytro is .
Please refer to my conditions/106mph post. When I was stock just 3 weeks ago 90mph is about all I could consistently muster in the real world of trails and snow now I am at a true 95mph or so on anything other than ice or obviously frozen dirt. 88mph is respectable and a TRUE reading. Is something causing top end issues? Maybe but maybe we will have to live with it. Still never had any trouble kicking others butts on the trails bone stock. Try to have fun and things will work out.

just doing some digging into yamaha sleds with the same motor, nytro and vector have gear ratios under 2 ( don't quote me as i have only had a few mins to take a look) neither the rtx or ltx le or se is near or under 2. i have also read several posts on here and cat sites that this suspension has a pretty big drag problem and guys have countered with dupont slides and extra wheel kits as well as the 4th wheel kit.
Dont forget driver size in gearing and the fact they are extroverts. The extroverts have got to hurt top speed.

It was great riding with you up in Muni Buddah! You know that area like back of your hand. Will do it again for sure.

I can only get about 82 or so with 150 or so miles stock too. Not to happy my $10k rush600 would kill this thing and my old 800 would laugh but not giving up yet. Gonna try clutch kit and exhaust and if that doesn't work well have to decide what to do. The riding position is very comfortable though and I kinda like it.
