My bud bought a 2001 SRX and all 3 power valves have broken cables. Is there a vender that rebuilds power valves? New valves are too expensive between $130 and $ 160. What can he do??

mrviper on totallyamaha.net was doing repairs to them last i heard.

Are the cables broken or did the cables pull through the slots on the powervalve?

Hey man do you know anything about SRX's???
Its been a while.

They are a easy fix, cut them off, drill and tap threads and use a bolt for the cables to attach to.

What do you want to know? LOL I've had my 01 since 06 and I just bought a 98. Both have been ripped apart down to chassis including motors.

This does work, but in my experiences eventually the bolt will pull through the aluminum. Find some used ones, if you have Facebook, there is a page dedicated to SRX's. There is also a guy here near Winnipeg that is parting out a 02 that has powervalves with rebuilt ends. His name is bluemonster1 on the totallyamaha.net site. (2stroke site)

I've heard of guys using a carbide bit on a air dremmel to trim down the cylinder side of the stock valves to fit a big bore. So if a viper is the same dimensions as a SRX just longer this could work too, I would just take my time when doing this to try and get them as close to exact as possible.

there is a fix you can do your self, just did mine last year, theres a post that explains

If you’re talking about the slots steel wire and tubes he did that successfully on Sunday. I just hope that fix holds up.
