2006 Feb Tug Hill NY TY Ride

Booked a room today. Talked to Viperman and he's in! Kevin sounds like he will at least go on the bagger. Keep the snow coming.

Could someone describe what a "pinhead" is? I beleive I have ridden with many if them over the years. The last "pinhead" I rode with left me stuck off the trail (missed a turn) while he rode on to the nearest clubhouse to warm up with a coffee. Everytime hs sled got stuck, I dug it out while he watched!!!! That was the last time I rode with that @#@!#hole!!!! "Pinheads" suck!!!

RX1Jim, I think you have the idea of a pinhead. In this case the pinhead on our ride left early to go home, and left behind the friend and the friends snowmobile he brought with him. He also stayed up most of the night drinking, and then didn't want to go riding the next day.

There is a slight chance I can arrive in the late afternoon the 31st of January. Will anyone be up at the Montague to ride on Tuesday? If not, I will show on Wednesday AM bright and early. I would love to get some miles on before the ride. Kinda like a TY ride before the TY ride.

Well guys, Charlie's is booked. I hope everyone got there room before today. I guess they are having a Sno-deo up there that weekend, so they are very busy. Gordon, is there any other places to stay around there? If you could post that information, it would be great.

Gordon, you think this ride is still happening? Don't foresee the railbed tracks getting covered very well unless we get some major snow soon. Forecast for at least the next week looking pretty dismal. What was the cancellation window, two weeks??

I believe this year the cancellation window is 1 month. They changed this year bcause of all the cancellations they had last year. I believe there is another way there besides the tracks. Up through star lake area, but then again they have to have snow, but they wouldn't need as much as you need to ride the tracks. I,m afraid it is too late to cancel the reservations at Charlies Inn.

I called Charlie's last week to get an additional room. He told me I could cancel 2 weeks in advance. That weekend is the big event there, I don't think they will have any problems renting the rooms out if we cancel. I do think is it way to early to make any decisions. Why don't we give it another 10 days or have someone call Monday to confirm their cancelation policy.

Boy I wish I was going there to ride to I grew up in that area. My Dad has a camp about 2 miles from Charle's and I know the trails around there like the back of my hand miss riding there. I live in Wyoming know and only get back every so often haven't rode back there in three years or so. Riding out west is great. Have a great time guys and don't worry they will get snow.

I have no problem going up through Star Lake. Would be more to see anyways than riding the tracks. Just wish winter would return!

I checked with Charlies Inn today on their reseration cancellation policy. It is two weeks. It does not look good for a trip from Tug Hill up to Charlies. I will study some weather charts, forcasted jet stream winds, moon and tidal charts and a few othjer goodies in the next couple days. I will post again on Tuesday as to whether we should cancel are trip to Charlies. This will give everyone who made reservations time to cancel. However the first 3 days we are planning to ride Tug Hill still looks OK. Snow has melted alot the last few weeks, but they still a pretty good base left, just alot of bumps and moguls. Won't take alot of snow to get Tug Hill back in shape. Check back on Tuesday evening on the final word about are bagger trip to Charlies. Gordon

Work your magic with the weather charts Gordon! Rode the hill today and it definitely needs more snow. Unbelievably we actually had to go through two different police check points. Lewis county only looked for our stickers but Oswego checked everything.

TY Ride

I just received a vmail from Gordon. He said the weather is not looking good for our bagger trip and recommended we cancel that portion of our trip. We need to make/find accomadations for Friday night on the Hill. I hope anyone who had reservations at Charlie's sees this message and calls to cancel. I can be reached at 781.820.7191, thanks, Dana. He thought we would have enough snow in CNY to ride for the week.

Tried calling Charlies and no answer!
So does this change our base or is Montague still the main starting point or are you saying we are moving this farther south like where our second TY ride of 2004 was?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I can't believe that in February we are wondering where we can find enough snow to have a decent trip!!!!!! :o| :o| :o|

Booma, after talking with Gordon, he thinks we should plan to ride from the Montague. They have a 5 day cancelation policy. We can wait 5 days before we arrive to make final decisions. I asked if we should move the ride further south, but he said they have a lot less snow. Keep your fingers crossed.
