2007 phazer fx spark plugs

Just bought this machine used and is slow to start. wouldnt start in the -17 weather yesterday. I read talk of a cold start ecu and I have a feeling this machine never got the recall but think new plugs would help. So my question is where are the spark plugs and how easy is it to change them? Any videos or photos would be a great help. As well is the oil change really the nightmare some you tuber said it was? I have no idea when it was last done.

I'm a handy guy but a newb to sleds so be kind. Thanks

Not sure about a video but it’s really not that bad once you’ve done it a few times.

Call your local dealer with the VIN number and they should be able to check if any/all the updates have been done. That said, My phazer turns over pretty slow below 0*f, even with a new battery, anything colder than -20*f it usually won't go or I have to boost it with a big battery. The factory battery sizes is pretty small, IMO, for a twin cylinder that needs to start in frigid temperatures. My Rancher 420 uses the same battery and that turns over very slow below 0*f also.

I am.brand new to this site as well brand new to.my 2007 phazer. Changed spark plugs myself a couple weeks ago. Job seemed ominous, but ended up doing it and it was fairly easy. Even removing fuel tank which has to be done. I' concerned about the oil filter change

And unless you work on Yamaha sleds daily, you should never have to do it a few times. Unless you start and shut the sled off cold, the plugs don't foul out like a 2-stroke. I sold our phazer with nearly 5000 miles on it with the original plugs in it. Let's be real -20 is damn cold, plain and simple.

True, you really shouldn’t need to change them often if you always let them warm up properly. I’ve found the worst culprit for plug problems is when it’s cold and there stale gas in the tank.

That said, I have being doing maintenance on my Phazer plus two other Phazers for over 10 years so I have done it a few times.
