Had the stator go out on my old 97 sx700. Don't recall the mileage. My Attak threw the dreaded ER2 on a TY ride. It had about 18k miles then.

sometimes just age can get them. phazer and big bear in my sig both toasted stator while running the vehicle on the trail.

I replaced one on a 2005 Vector a number of years ago without even tipping the motor. Actually, I did it twice because I was first given an aftermarket stator... which didn't last at all... and then installed an OEM stator. I had to grind a few clearance notches in the bulkhead area so that I could remove the forward few stator cover screws. It was a pain in the #*$&@ and I never want to do it again. LOL
