2009 Nytro Front End+ Rebuild

Nice... Post impressions. Snow this weekend down south (ME).

So I love this wrap seat! Sitting in the garage I thought it might be too tall and too stiff. Not so. 5 min on it and it felt so natural and perfect. I had raised the bars 1 inch to compensate for the new height and that also worked well. I am 6.0 foot my wife is a bit shorter, when we switched machines for a bit her first comment was how much she liked the seat over her stock seat . Definitely recommend it if your on the fence. I also installed a heat demon heater in mine at the same time I installed. Great bling factor for those cloudy damp days. (I had installed one on my wife's nytro 2 yr ago and it works great. )

Looks sweet! I am getting one... Is the seat heater worth it? I imagine those -20 mornings might feel nice!

I have not used it more than a few minutes. Wife uses hers 25 %of the time I'm guessing. Just an option if you are already doing seat work. Not something that a guy has to have

Makes sense to add while you are doing it. I have had a cold seat (wet too) end of a long day on the trail or early AM -20 F so can see might be nice to have like heated seats in my car.

If you ride when its cold out seat heater is well worth it. When riding home after a long day and the "chill" is starting to set in, flick it on for a bit and it seems to warm a person right up,don't know why it works so well butt it makes a big difference. I never would have got one but one of my Viper's came with it. never used until riding home one day, long day and really cold. Just aiming for home so not going hard enough to stay warm, remembered I have this fancy little switch on console so tried it. Won't have a machine without it any more.

Makes sense. Warm is good. Expecting 18-24" snow next 48 hours, might wish I had a warm seat Monday w -5 F predicted. Thanks for the feedback, will put one on my seat upgrade now.

Finally got around to addressing hitting a rock on skid plate while running up a river last season. I have the stock skid plate (would call it a snow protector, not a skid plate, the small aluminum "bars" are useless for impacts) and the optional skid plate (plastic that goes from nose over the aforementioned snow protector). The rock I managed to center under the sled (at 50 mph) vs. taking it on the exposed A-Arms cracked the outer skid plate and bent in the inner aluminum bars, but lucky no damage to the oil filter or radiator, some rub marks on the engine bottom casting (if let go long enough, could have worn through I suspect). I think the plastic outer skid plate did its job as it got a crack on the last 1" just in front of the radiator, so I suspect I was able to loft the skis just enough with gas to avoid catastrophe. Long story short, I want to get one of the MoutainTech machined full skid plates but until then, picked up a 16"x18"x3/16" plate of aluminum for $5 at the my local sheet metal shop and went to work this weekend. Lots of pictures below in case anyone wants to do the same. Ended up working perfectly as a 3/16" sandwich between the outer plastic skid plate and inner snow protector. I had replaced the plastic rivets with some 1/4" c-nuts last year and 1/4" ss hardware and oversized washers so they worked as is. I guessed a little on where to stop the plate and put in the bend up but luck on my side, it slipped in and avoids rubbing on the frame tubes. I think it will work fantastic, hit the edges with gloss black rustoleum I had laying around so you can barely see it from the side. $5 protection!

Getting ready for a two day ride in the "county" next weekend and considering a GPS add... Any real world experiences? There is one w a sat nav text (i.e. no cell coverage) capability that is nice but small screen... On the fence on direction to go in.

Jimbur, is your black tunnel paint or a wrap/sticker? Look good.

Thanks,Bed liner with a couple clears over it. Did one machine and it looked good and held up well so I just did the other one last winter.

Looks fantastic. I thought it was the tunnel wrap I have seen on eBay. Can you post close up pics how you did transition to running boards and decals? Looks great from the pic. Love the black look.

Epic runs SU and MO in Northern Maine based out of Portage. -22 F and really good snow... Over 126" of snow has fallen in Stockholm, Maine! Crazy. There was so much snow few were leaving the groomed trails playing around on the sides as getting stuck in the ice layer two feet down and the powder below that is such a PITA. Fantastic conditions, I would say perfect even, that good. Saw a few Nytros leading their groups on MO on 92B and ITS105, wonder if they are here as well! Fun times... Adding a throttle gizmo for a second hand position for the long rides, will post install process once it arrives.

I bet we crossed paths then, I was in a group with a couple Vector ltx's, an Apex XTX, and a Polaris Switchback XCR. Went from Shin Pond to Madawaska on Friday right through Portage and Stockholm. Did the Alagash on Saturday and the border trail through Limestone Sunday, then back to Shin Pond through Stockholm and Portage on Monday.

You're right on the snow, best conditions I've seen in a long time up that way.

Small world! Were you on a blue Nytro? Crazy amount of snow, never seen people staying on trail before for fear of getting instantly stuck in 6'+ of snow! That layer of ice 2' down was brutal when your skis got under it. Fun times...
