Riceburner said:Allan,
Couple of questions.
I am not a dyno specialist by any means but it looks to me like the stocker makes a fair bit more power up to 35 mph.
Am I reading the sheets correctly?
If so, is this due to Turbo lag, Clutching designed to keep track horsepower down to prevent launch blowout of the track or some other reason?
Sold my SC RX 1 and thinking of something for the SE. Loved the MPI Supercharger but hearing some good things about these MCX's.
Dave
I have this sled geared up and setup fairly soft on engagement trying to keep some form of traction. At 3200 rpm engagement and a 26/37 gearing combination on the dyno it is a little slower at lower MPH (below 35 mph). I did get a chance to drive it around in the grass just a little today and it feels great, no noticeable lag and very responsive.

Allen you're geared high, unstudded it's a must.
X2 to all Allen says, I installed one last season and totally agree, the kit probably delivers more than adverticed. Why do I know that? MCX always dyno their sleds in the spring or summer with no correction factor to the dyno whatsoever. I've been in MCX dyno room, the correction factor was set at 1 = no correction. Erik runs a SuperFlow 901.
BTW I love that AEM meters.

Gearing any sled up is the best kept secret on the snow.
Most of the time, there is not traction for gearing down; you simply blow the track away at launch. Once you do that, you loose any advantage you tried to achieve with the added torque multiplication of the lower gears. Note that with the proper traction (like in sticky snow conditions on a freshly groomed trail), lower gearing will improve low to midrange acceleration.
The real advantage to gearing up, is that you will be running the clutches closer to that optimal 1:1 ratio, in most mid to top situations.

X2 - I run 25/38 tops out at 140+ MPH
Perfect for trail and even off trail riding.

x3 I used to run 24/42 WAY To low, great 40-90mph accel but off the line I would get whooped by ski doo 600's. Went back to 25/38 and its much better off the line, 140+ top speed, and still have to feather it a little pending conditions but it darn near rips my arms off from 20mph to 100 mph now.
Its not bad in off trail either, the sled has enough power to keep the track speed up.

Allen - a bone stock 2011 XTX with a 290 kit won the BL last year on pump gas/~13lb boost. We ran 26/37 and loaded the bejesus out of a set of 50/20's. Once we could keep it off the rev limiter it ran 137.x MPH at the end of the day on a chewed up track.
This is now the record, at least for another 6 weeks ...!
BTW, "we" includes Ron and Scott from Boss. I think Ron actually piloted the best run, and I know he was the one with the magic bolts/washers that got the clutch dialed in.
Very impressive set-up.

What was the distance of the track?

The track is snow, and I'd guess it is about 2500' long if you used it all. There's a slight bend in it though (this is on a river) so usually wait until after the turn and then pin it. At that point the distance to the gun is probably closer to 1000', which is plenty for these sleds to get wound out.

Wow , finally first 85k today, 20k ok the rest crappy , but
had to drop the boost to 10 lbs to let me catch up , runs perfect , would think it was stock until you squeeze it . I ran the MCX 200 last year , just stepped it up to 290 Wow quite a ride !!!

We can ride, was out this last weekend, the lake was prestine, low snow but flat as a pan cake, great for speed runs. Lots of sleds out, way cool.
