Hearing all the problems that the new cat is having helps a little but feel sorry for the guys that have to deal with it!

I feel for those guys too, imagine taking your sled back and forth to the Dealer on a brand new sled. Then find out, you gotta bring it back again.

The problems are minor and not all of them are having all of the issues... The biggest is the gear breaking.... I will say this... The 2013 F1100 Turbo will be the sled to get.... Unless another OEM comes with something better.

No reverse on most, paint flaking/decals coming off, coolant leaks, studding issues, wrong belt-not availible that I heard of which IMHO is not minor. It will take sometime for the after market to catch up on these issues for sure. Guys are affraid to turn up the boost which is far from minor. Guys wishing they had the DD back compared to the new chaincase.Great prediction on 2013 though....

Todd, you are reading to much on HCS... I know of 7 guys that were just up in Cochrane Ont and they put on 700 miles.. 2 of them were modded with TD re-flash and exhaust. Not one had any issues... Ski-doo and Yamaha are all the same... I could list the issues on my Apex and Nytro if you would like, but I am not here to do this or bash Yamaha for that matter. The XR had reverse gears issues as well when it first came out. Water pump gears and hand warmer issues, but they fixed in 10 and only a small amount of them ever had issues...
I will admit the Cat 2 stroke sleds are not my choice and prob never will. But the Suzuki Built 1100 Turbo is a good motor. After 2009, the Z1's never really had issues except for the weight of them.
Take it for whats its worth... They all have issues.. Some less then others, but they all do...

Just a FYI anyone who flashes a ecu on the turbos, just voided their warrenty on a sled plauged with issues. Cat VIN locked all the ecu's and require them to be sent in before any warrenty work is done.

Well i am not sticking up for cat,but most of these problems are all blown out of proportions, the reverse issue,is the only real problem, most dont know what to do about yet,and alot are just plain scared to put it in reverse,so they dont really know if there sled has a problem, now they do have a recall on bogie wheel delaminating, sound like some thing we have had before! i dont know of anyone who has a boosted f1100 who has not turned it up for fear of what? They do seem to be about 5 mph slower on top end vrs the z1,but in a drag race, they leave the z1 by 5-8 lengths, one guy has had some funky chipping of the white paint on the limited model, and his dealer does not want to help as of now,ya a lot of talk about belts, but no one saids its the wrong belt, just that they are all trying to find the 5 mph that the z1 beats it by,so they think it is not going into O.D. and it must be the wrong belt, alot is just plain BS,just like every site has,ya they are like all sleds in its first year, some teething problems, but nothing major, you are forgetting how good they ride and handle, anyone who has ridden one will testify how much better they handle and ride than the z1 they replace!bottlerocket said:No reverse on most, paint flaking/decals coming off, coolant leaks, studding issues, wrong belt-not availible that I heard of which IMHO is not minor. They havent been praised for ride and handling by any magizine reports with side by side comparisons that i read. There still bottom of the barrel like the Z1 was. The same ones that pumped it up all last year are all back pedaling now. Im not saying it wont be decent but not this year. Also seen a pic of a a-arm bent in as bad as a nytro. Owner claimed very low speed impact. Im just calling it like I see it without any sugar coat!

Ya they are having some first year teething problems, and i wont buy one this year, but i do have some friends that have them with no problems at all,and they say the handling is the best cat has ever had,and they say the same thing about the ride. Thats all.... for now my apex has all the stuff addressed that i thought i needed last year, but darn,we need snow!! I have been hearing the ride isn't that great either is the top end speed for 180+ hp, reverse doesn't work, fuel filter coming out of its holder and rubbing on driveshaft causing a potential fire hazard, poor workmanship on side panels and they also push in the corners and are tippy!!! I gave them a look this year because for so little $ you can make them really fast, but like any first year sled they have lots of problems!! Maybe next year I will try one if they get them sorted out and Yamaha doesn't step up to the plate a little more
