2012 Cats, what do you think?

Im the only one on a yamaha in my group also but I think they all have a warm spot for it. The fit, finish and resale are hard to argue. It runs very well with the competion also. That being said the new cats are a game changer!

500 cash in hand on a new 12 Pro Cross XF1100 Turbo SP Limited, jeeze could the name get any longer. As soon as my dealer gets back I will have one on order. Love my Nytro but it still leaves some things to be desired and I grew up a CAT guy and am pretty pumped about this new chassis. I will say I am not brand loyal but I think I will give Yamaha some time to cook up a answer to these cats.....and yes I know all about first year sleds but I can not resist.

Funny.....as soon as i saw the white and orange one I thought of you.....but I loved it too!!!! If i was in the market right now i'd pull the trigger, those sleds are sweet!!!! Brand loyal???? It's my money....and I love my nytro but technology is technology....it won't pass me by because of brand "loyalty". I still have almost 3 years of warranty left on my 09' nytro with 4200 miles. Did I get a good deal....well...so far..but would sell in a heatbeat for a new Cat. Yami corp (snowmobiles) is heading in the wrong direction and I couldn't tell you why ( i'm sure it's financial) but brand loyalty alone won't keep me on a sinking ship. For all the haters....I am the only one in my riding group that rides a yami. Been there..done that.

Yup, I thought it was ironic to see that color combo released. I think that CAT will gain some much needed business and looks to be moving in the same direction as Doo, release a killer chassis and then work on motor tech. I wouldn't say they are a 4s company, I think they are using what they have to comply to EPA while working on the next best 2s motors. Until 2s can be as bullet proof as 4s I wont be on one anytime soon, ill deal with the weight, if Yami could loose what Cat lost off their chassis I think it would improve their status with the general population of snow-geeks. From what I see they have the lowest aproval rating, kinda like Obama, and that sucks cuz they have so much potential.

Problem for yamaha is for the high HP junkies like myself a Cat turbo will be thousands cheaper then a NA yamaha in a kick azz chassis so they may still lose business unless they come out boosted option that is standard and not on top of a already high price.

The 1100T with $1100 can be 250-260hp on pump fuel. Insane!

Exactly! Very well said.

In a few years when I'm ready to upgrade...I'll be looking for one of these. Depending on what else is out there in a few years of course.

I'm still in a daze....

my god does this look good.

they flat out said on the launch video they dropped 60 pounds off the front of the Four strokes. Here are listed weights.

F1100 Turbo SP LTD/50th is 549lbs
F800 SP is 459 lbs
F1100 SP is 527lbs
XF1100 Turbo SP LTD/50th is 549lbs
XF800 SP High Country is 456lbs
M1100 Turbo SP LTD 163 is 562lbs
M800 HCR 153 is 470lbs
M800 SP 153 is 474lbs
M800 153 is 476lbs

My ltx is 600lbs. Cat is only about 50lbs lighter or about a tank of fuel. But they have found a way to make them handle from what I have read.

Hey I was reading the new cat brochure and it says new skiis have no slip grips on them...What do the mountain guys actually stand on the skiis?

When your digging one out of 5ft of powder the ski can be a very slippery part, plenty of guys stand on the ski when trying to un-stick a sled.

X2, use mine to flip my sled over or to get around the sled when stuck on a hill. I think Polaris was the first to do this.

From a Canadian perspective, I think Cat will hit a home run with their 2012 F1100 Turbo LXR when compared to a 2012 Apex SE. Canadian list (LXR $15499 vs SE $17799) is $2300 cheaper and when you add our Ontario HST of 13% you save $2600. Along with this substantial saving, from what I've read and seen on Cats website, you also get the following standard features not found on our SE's:at least 20 extra hp (15 if you believe the 162 hp ad hype), 6" dual carbides, 50-60 lbs less heft, a heated seat, push-button reverse, adjustable handlebars, adjustable ski stance, removeable rear storage bag(don't have to drill, rivet and purchase) and a window to check oil level. Then there are the generally perceived notions of better handling and longer hyfax life(almost a given), a horny appearance, a 2-up seat option, choice of 5 windshield heights and two fewer idler wheels to replace. Not to mention having to worry about proper track tension so as not to knick our several thousand $ exhaust system. They don't discourage stud use, rather they have Woody's and Stud Boy traction products in their brochures(have for years) with the only caveat being it looks like you have to add tunnel protectors as they are listed as required in the brochure. Make that $2500 instead. The addition of a factory turbo and the features listed above would probably push the Cdn. MSRP plus taxes to over $25000 OTD! Don't get me wrong, I love the QDR of my Apex, but lighter, faster, warmer, adjustability, handling and agility, awesome looks etc. coupled with a seasons' worth of gas, lodging, trail permits, insurance etc. covered by the $2500, you have to admit Cat did their 50th anniversary homework. One saving grace, at least they didn't bump the horsepower up.
