2012 yamaha apex, having problem with my hyfax getting cut at bottom n it split into 2 pieces. Put new 1 on and in 200 miles it split again. Other hyfax was worn down as if it had 4000miles on it. Don't see anything on track that would be doing this. Has any body out there ever have this problem. Big Tex

x2 on the clips having a peice of crud in them. got 10000 mi on a set of cheap kimpes slides before i put duponts on it as gf was riding it and does not know to go get snow when you smell plastic.

so the other day I noticed this myself and curious to what you have learned.

I bought this xtx second hand with 2000 mile on it and it had the dupont's. They looked cooked when I got it but figured I could get the rest of the season out of it. , I ran it for a short ride and they were ready to split as well.

only seen them split when they are almost to worn out.

I have the dupont's slides, also I installed the 135mm idler wheels up from the factory 130mm with cable snow scratchers, 1000 miles on them now still look in great condition, have never had the slides get hot with this set up.

7k miles on my XTX duponts

Usually when clips come off it’s because of wear. If they are thin replace them all at once or if 8000mi+ on track just get a new track.
Steve, What makes you feel a new track is needed after 8k? Past experience?
Looking over my two current sleds there is no lug damage and look in good shape, track clips are looking thin, about 50% worn but think they should go another season or two (2500 to 3k for me).
I did reclip the whole track on an original 1" cone track on my Wife's RX1 years ago which went many years after that. Have only ever replaced one track on a used sled for a tear in it from being over studded, they put studs every where there was an empty spot they could find and it only lasted 2k miles.

The OP was losing clips. Big job to replace all and have to weigh that vs just replacing track. To me 8-9000 mi is time to change track anyway but guess it depends how you ride. Never made more than 9000mi on one personally without delamination or lugs gone.

i made around 15000mi on an 1.25" ripsaw unstudded and replaced it because it was loosing the tips on the lugs. clips still looked good but i never ran duponts on it and got 12000 mi on a set of cheap kimpex plastic slides. got duponts on it now with scratchers and 1.5" track.
