- 2014 SR Viper LTX SE
I am new to the snowmobile world and just picked up a 2014 SR Viper LTX with 3,300 miles on it. Changed the oil and chain case oil this weekend, no issues. Machine started well 10 or so times since picking up the sled and checking oil level. Went to start it today and as it fired, I let off the key, heard a bit of a pop, and the machine shut off.
Starter won't turn over now. Checked the solenoid by the battery. Test light lights up when turning the ignition. Checked for power at the starter with a test light from red plug on starter to ground, and test light turns on. Turned the primary clutch about 1/3 turn in direction of running engine and engine seems to turn over just fine.
Is this likely a bad starter that went out? Also, are there any other ways to test the starter itself? From reading it seems like starter can be replaced through oil filter cover, can anybody confirm this?
Thanks in advance!
