sled died on me today, stopped to shoot the crap with my buddies and it wouldn’t restart, luckily I have a jump pack and got it going again and back to the truck, P0562 came across the display on the ride back, got it home put it on the charger and I only have battery voltage while running, can someone steer me in the right direction as to where to go next? Any and all help is appreciated

Do you know if there has been a starter/starter gear repair on this sled? If so chances are that left over teeth chunks found it’s way into the stator and cut a winding. Some people have also had loose connections at the voltage regulator. Pull the hood and reach through the nose under it Airbox, the voltage regulator is the box in the passenger side. If the connectors are not loose pull the one with 3 same color wires and check each wire for Shorted to ground with a multi-meter. Any reading other Open/Infinate is a bad/damaged stator. You should also see around 0.2-0.4 ohms between each wire.

I’ve owned it since new and never had starter troubles and it was reprogrammed for the kickback issue days after I had bought it, I’ll give the regulator a look, I can’t complain much the sled has been fantastic for the 5 yrs and almost 10000 miles I’ve put on it with nothing more than oil changes, what kind of a job is it to replace the stator ? If that ends up being the problem

It’s not a bad job, basically drain the oil, remove the muffler, and a few oil lines gives you access to the side cover. I’d say 2hrs if your handy.

I'd say take the battery out and take it to a place like Battery Wholesale to check it with a load on it. My guess is you need a new battery.

So when checking the stator I want my negative lead on ground? Positive lead to stator wires, or do I want to be checking the 3 wires with the negative and positive lead?

With the negative lead clipped to the over structure bolt I have .04 on all 3 wires

You use Ohm setting and it doesnt matter polarity. Put one lead on one wire and other check each wire. This checks that they arent shorted to each other. Then you do the same but one lead on ground and other to each wire. This checks none are shorted to ground but we already know they are not since your sled is charging while running. Its your batt connections or more likely the battery itself.

Sled is not charging while running, I have on all 3 wires .04-.06 ohm from stator plug to ground, grounding meter lead to over structure bolt just above shock mount, wire to wire across the plug is .03 each wire no change
