No need for an all-new sled! The Nytro XTX is still the best sled on the snow. All they need to do is make some simple changes like adding a bigger tank, going back to the clicker shocks, and adding the trail supercharger stock and nothing will touch it across a lake or in the twisties!

Here's a video of my '09 with this setup SMOKING an 800 E-Tec twice. Look close, it hooks up so well you initially think I jump the start, but he moves first both times...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqRjmtYlsTs

...and only took a supercharger to do it.

So what! Everyone else is coming out with factory turbos etc, why not Yamaha! Add the supercharger into the price and it's still less tnah Doo wants for their sleds.

It's called apples vs oranges dude. You think a new Nytro with a factory super will cost less than a new Doo? Come out west and run a few of the E-techs with aftermarket breathing....see how well the Nytro does. That would be apples to apples.

Who cares about apples to apples? It's about being the best, and the Nytro is already as good or better than any Doo E-tec in the twisty moguls (heck, I outran them all BEFORE the charger)! And now it'll beat them to the first turn as well. Maybe I'll post some of those vids to show how long I wait at the intersections for the Doo's to catch up! Bottom line for me - faster in the open, better in the trails - for where I ride, that means "Best."

it still wouldnt be apples to apples either
as the Nytro is a 600 class and the doo is 800 class
thats like saying a 600 etec with mods vs an 800 etec with mods is apples to apples
Now that dont make too much sense now does it..?
Just sayin.....

The 2013 Doo's are already over $2,200 more with tax than the comparable Nytro by the time you add everything they upcharge for, and the trailcharger can be bought tax free online. Do the math. For an extra $1000 I'll take the Nytro with S/C all day long and whip that e-tec all over the place!

Well by those standards an apex take an etec is not the same and or an 1100 cat is not the same class either. It goes by hp now. 150hp class and up. Back to topic, I hope everyone buys a new Yamaha cause I want to buy a used low mileage 2012 :)

Interesting to me that CR in a response to his latest blog says he is riding his 2012 Apex no matter what new comes out. Sounds like this new does not replace the Apex.

Are you riding with a bunch of 80 yr old men riding the etecs? :moon: I've had them all, and believe me when I say them all.. I've had apex's, attak's, fx nytro's, some with superchargers, I've had firecat's, ZR's, F1000's, F1100 turbo, and a lot of skidoo's.. There is no way your Nytro is going to out run an etec through the twisties with equal drivers period..... The Yamaha weighs 70 lbs more and has a higher center of gravity.. They also tend to have a lot of inside ski lift.. Just stating the facts.. I am intrigued by the possibility of a new and improved Nytro with more hp, less weight and a suspension that is actually on par with the others, not a bash, just stating how I feel.. Lord knows I bled blue and white for many many years. Just came to realize that there is better out there currently.. Here's to hoping for a new and improved Yamaha ! ;)! ;)!

As good as a doo e- tec in twisty moguls??? What are you smokin? I had a nytro & now am riding an e-tec - there's no comparison. The nytro is so much slower through any kind of twisty trail, I don't care if you have 250 hp - you're not going to even keep the doo in sight. I'd take any sxr, viper, even a old exciter over the nytro as far as handling goes. It has a nice motor - most everything else needs to change.

Oh yeah, and my XTX has nearly 9,000 miles on it and still solid and tight. Try THAT with a Cat or Bumble Bee!

Liked the " you should get on this side" from the doo rider ...

Saw that sled last weekend in the owner's shop. Not likely to be produced by Yammy as it has a 1100 GSXR motor with turbo, 6 speed and air shifter...but it's real cool!

As long as he enjoys his sled thats all the matters. The racing stuff gets old. Everyone claims to be stock and no one ever loses. It gets old.

Cat dealer can make their booking for oil. 2 stroke DI oil and 4 stroke 1049 CC for Yamaha engine comes with the filter

this is spot on. I owned a Nytro. Great in a strait line worst sled I ever owned for cornering.

If you guys can't corner your nytro you have it set up wrong. I corner BETTER than any doo, etec or otherwise, that I've ever run against. I'll take on any Rev platform in the woods, period. Set it up right and get good skis and the 4-stroke weight up front and slight engine breaking is actually an advantage.

Bahahaha... That's the funniest thing I have read in a long time. There is no way a Nytro is going to touch my 800R E-Tec, especially in the tight twisties. I rode a 2010 Nytro for three winters and liked it a lot. However, there is no comparision between what I used to ride and what I ride now. The Doo is truly that much better. Almost forgot, I got it as a leftover 2012 for $9600.00.
