This has nothing to do with the price of the apex, but my 2018 Vector has the upgraded shock and it has been replaced 3 times in about 5,200 miles. Once at 4,500 miles and then it only lasted 375 miles and the next new shock lasted 334 miles. Almost afraid to drive it any more.

I bought one 3 years ago with 7k miles for $4900. Different times then.

$8-9000 I have a 16 XTX with 985 miles, and thats my price range.

Wow, I have over 9500 miles on my 18 Apex XTX and have never had an issue with the upgraded shock. Although it does concern me that it's an air shock with no traditional coil spring, it rides very nice for me with my setup. It's due for another service from @cannondale27 but hope to put many more miles on it.

I would be more concerned about the linkage wearing out as long as that shock is refreshed every few Thousand miles. I know what to look for and have a few tricks that help.

I remove my suspension every year. I take all the shafts out & clean them. Take all wheels off & remove bearing, clean & re-pack. Remove lower bearing by sepo & replace. Bought 2 new SS bars that go on either side of the upgraded shock & also replaced the bushings in them. Bought 2 new alum. stopper blocks from Hy-gear. Re-grease bearing behind secondary. What other kinds of tricks do you have.

Guess you just have to trust that when I have your shock on my bench I think of everything I could do to lessen odds of a failure. I know how it feels. Unacceptable. Send your shock to me and find out what I do extra.

I have sent my shocks to you from my Viper before. The problem with all the 3 new shocks that the dealer put on my 2018 Vector was that they only lasted 3-400 miles each time. Yamaha warranted all the shocks & the labor. The last time I drove my machine I put it in the garage & everything was ok with the shock. Came back up in 2 weeks & all the air was out of the shock. The shock would not hold any air. By the way I do raise the track off the floor so that there is no pressure on the shock. I have no problem sending shocks to you but I would like to put more miles on them instead 3-400 miles.

Of course! Just because a shock is new doesn’t mean it can’t have a defective part on it. Are you trying to get Yamaha to cover or fix the leaking shock? If not just send it over so I can figure it out.

Yamaha has replaced all 3 shocks & labor under warranty. How could all 3 shocks go bad so quick? All 3 shocks were brand new from yamaha.

taken bad shocks out of the box. some times there is just a failure of a componet or issues with the assembly process. why warenty exists.
