2017 sidewinder updates

Knapp, you seem to be happy again like the 'ole days. I know you loved your turbo Doo, but i think you bleed Blue. Maybe a new project keeps you fresh. Kind of like a new girlfriend. I was reluctant to go with pilots on my sled because i'd have to give more ski pressure to make them work & i personally am having a hard time hooking up now...

I ran 5.7 pilots since 07 on my Ape. They were awesome when set up for them, but sucked in any powder. With the Trackers, i was able to adjust ski pressure less so it hooked up better, never pushed & was waaaaay better in powder. On good trails they were equal. Plus i have over 7,000 miles on them & they still look great. I know these are different machines, but i have enough Tracker knowledge to believe they wouldn't work for me. Trust me, my Curves almost killed me until i adjusted for those also...

Not really, I don't bleed anything. Very happy with the winder though. Loved the 1200 no doubt whether NA or turbo.

It is fun to have something different to play with and tune on! Quite impressed and never thought I'd be on another ProCross chassis, but I have to admit it is way further refined than that old POS 2012 pile of crap that I tried and hated. I actually really like this Winder and am quite excited about it.

Well to be honest I never thought I would again be riding anything Cat related but the Sidewinder got my attention. I bought mine last year without ever riding one. I took a huge chance and thought there was a very good chance I wouldn't own it for very long. I'm very pleased with my purchase and for the first time in a long time I'm excited and looking forward to riding my sled this coming season.

That's great to hear!!

Coming off a 2007 Apex GT(loved the Apex...sled never gave me a bit of trouble), so I'm pretty excited about some new iron myself this coming winter!

The dealership where I ordered mine, recommended snow trackers as they run them on their Winders. I've read elsewhere that some people feel the snow trackers have caused wrecks by being too aggressive?? Anyone else seen or heard this?

I have been running snow trackers for a while now and love them.
With that said, theres certain conditions i have found that they grab so hard they can tear the bars right out of your hands.
I had been using snowtrackers for about 5-600 miles and really started getting confident with them. Probably a little too confident.. I came over the crest of a hill going about 60-70 mph. Got some air and also got off balance. The sled landed a little out of whack with 1 ski landing before the other. The ski that hit the ground first really grabbed the hardpack and almost threw me off the sled.
It honestly grabbed so hard it jammed my throttle wrist and tore my other hand off the bars. My legs were dragging and to be honest i have no idea how i managed to stay on.
When it was over i had mildly sprained a wrist, torn a brand new set of bibs, and scared the living sheet out of myself.
With that said, i still run them but i have a much better feel for them now and when i am in real hard pack/icy trails i slow down a bit because i am aware of the potential for the carbide grabbing.
I still think they are the best carbides on the market. I just pay more attention now.

First off I am the OP and am okay with the snow tracker talk as I have a post on that too that has gotten lost due to lack of responses so pleas post on. Second between the 3 of us in our group we have over 30,000 miles on snow trackers on the apex. one time a buddy didn't square up to a set of railroad tracks up in muni across from the hotel I'm sure many of you know the spot the track come thru on an angle to the trail his hooked on the track sled went hard right he keep going straight picked him self back up and rode on. that is the only time we had any issue with over aggressive. Third I would like anyone who has anything else to have the dealer check to chime in because I think I'm going to have them prep it for me for next week.

That same railroad track got me and my snowtrackers one time. It didn't tear the bars out of my hands, but it did really hit hard and really surprised me. I love my snowtrackers, but you really have to be aware in certain situations.

Okay I have sent them my request for them to address all things listed in this post and to have her prepped to pick up before labor day. now I am getting excited I cant wait to bring her home.
