I understood they got rid of the 1049 because insurance companies were hosing people with anything over 1000cc. I think that’s why they’re using the 998 now.

Yup!!!! Insurance companies have a BIG influence in regards to under 1000cc built power sport vehicle’s.

I find it strange that Cat wont release pricing until the day Yamaha new release comes out. What does this point to?

Yes I got hosed this year on insurance because of the 1049 displacement! $880.00 two Vetors full and one Ac liability only!

Also noticing there doesn't seem to be anything new or updated for the 2020 Thundercat.

Just payed mine this morning, $401.00 for a year through Foremost, full coverage on both Apex's and my enclosed trailer.
Was looking at the vehicle descriptions, the 09 is listed as a standard snowmobile, the 11 is listed as a high performance snowmobile.:dunno:

also has the do with EpA and import taxing

Looks like textron is trimming the fat cat and concentrating on the sled's that are profitable to them, but the dealer's are still flooded with old stock, so not sure how this spring order only thing is going to pan out for them.
I have a feeling there not going to sell squat for 2020. There are 18 & 19 cats sitting at dealers for 10K or less. Why would you pony up 14-15K for the basically the same sled for 4-5K less? You wouldn't or at least I wouldn't. Plus I'm guessing now that they are spring order only prices will go higher to make up for the lack of sleds being sold which will drive even more people away from new sleds. In my opinion spring order=end of sleds.

There will always be people who spring order them and the lack of show room models will have the dealer's asking a premium for new old stock and used sled price will be up too, we may not see it as a good thing but in the short term it should be good for cat as long as there's something new in the works for the following year.

Oh yeah I know people will always spring order but I why do we need the price of used sleds to increase? Its going to end up like the diesel truck market. Outrageous prices for trucks with tons of miles on them. I personally don't want that.

You don't, but the sled makers and dealers do.
