You are correct! In April I bought a new 2018 sidewinder for 3,000.00 off of sticker with an extra year of warranty and 5 years of 0% financing. Why would you buy spring break or early season sled, outside of some specialty shocks or some other novelty.

Because money is no object for them. It is for people like you and me that like to save on something.

With that being said.....
Yamaha needs to to do a huge PR RELEASE during the 19 season, explain to the snowmobile world there future direction, touch upon what to expect on the 2020 launch to get people excited for the end of March snowchecks.
Srx’s are already shipped, overstock units are selling,most are yamicats anyway, true blue accessories are first come first serve until gone.
So in my mind..... enough already!!!!!!

Now to put another twist on this, one of the snowmobile rags posted on Facebook a headline something to the effect of, " Is Yamaha ready for a two stroke again" They do that just to drive chat traffic of course. But they are all privy to the information, but are not allowed to post any of it. But when stated in a headline as a question, they are technically not releasing anything. But it's enough of a headline for them to say, "you heard it from us first" when an AC manufactured 2-stroke is announced for 2020 in March.

Oh my the pot is officially stirred. As with these two headlines, it makes more sense that you may see a 6000 series or 8000 series cat re-badged as a Yamaha. What a waste.

For exactly the reason I mentioned, and why they didn't loose Port Yamaha for all their "real business" They wanted to give their faithful dealers the chance to either migrate to the closest Yamaha Partner or halt snow business and clear out stock.

When Harley Davidson shut down Buell, it was cold turkey. The value of brand new Buells on the HD showfloors tanks overnight. And it was near impossible to sell left over stock. It shocks the market so bad, that it leaves a bad taste in their mouth.

By doing it this way, Yamaha and AC were able to court Port Yamaha and other True blue dealers up at ERX and TRF and show them their alternatives. And maintain what relationship they have with said dealer. As they have no intentions of this impacting their Motorcycle, Dirt and Watercraft business. It's how to properly conduct business. And for the Yamaha faithful sled buyers, we have been weened off of Yamaha built sleds over the last 5 years. Again, you don't tell them we are getting out of the sled business, as they jump ship even quicker and dealers are stuck with stock they can't sell. Have you noticed that the Phazers and Apex look like they have been cleaning out the parts bin of A-arm colors from years past. Hmmmm

I can see the rumor mill is in high gear preseason spin. Lol Love it !!!Yamaha has everyone guessing and the talk topic of the industry. This takes exposure off Poo 850 and doo Ace turbo amazing new products and everyone is waiting for the other boot to drop at Yamaha. Lol. Yamaha knows exactly what is next but not going to announce anything due to non disclosure agreements. The #1 indicator I would look for is December thru March is factory sponsored test rides of new products to kick off the Spring deals. If we don’t see this promotion whatever is next is Not Exciting.

A rebadged blue cat is not going to sell too well, even if Yamaha showed us that they helped cat design their 2 strokes, this is why I will buy a leftover 18 sw, maintain it and ride, even if they do have something up their sleeve, I won't be the first one in line, I'll wait a year or two and buy it for 4-6k less.

Exactly. Or produce just enough to keep them on the string till they have time to ramp up their spring order only boutique business.

Another similarity to Buell was Erik Buell starting up Erik Buell Racing after the shut down of Buell by Harley Davidson. He made boutique bikes in the 40-60K range. Unlike Buell, that's all he had was bikes. Yamaha doesn't need the sled business. Being the lowest market share holder, it makes more financial sense to run away from it and save their capital and dealer network for the other three seasons worth of business.

I can't see Yamaha using Cats 2 stroke and chassis and rebadge it and introduce a all new 2 stroke line for Yamaha, true blues are already turning a blind eye to the viper and sidewinder sleds hypnotized in to thinking they are riding a Yamaha, I for one still think Yamaha will stand on their own to feet and release a new chassis with some already in production motors and some new engines to house in this new chassis, don't forget about the new designed vector engine with the 3 different engine mode settings also the new 2018 Apex with the new front shock system and the single shot rear suspension, Yamaha didn't put money into these developments for nothing, you will see a improved version of these again in a new chassis.

If you take a cat engine and put it in a cat chassis what do you have? A Cat! It doesn't matter what stickers are on the outside or the color of the plastics. It would be 100% Cat if that happens. If that happens that would be the biggest slap in the face Yamaha could possible do.
