If there really is an 880 coming with 180 plus and the weight is in check, then there is a strong chance the 2020 Turbos will have higher HP. Would be close race in 1/4 mile with a STOCK Turbo if they didn't.
I mean, all they would need to do is put a better flowing muffler on, and add a pound of boost, and presto....20 more hp.

Yamaha is getting out of 4 strokes... the 2020 SRX will be last year of production...

IMO, this is a very bad move for Yamaha. They built the 4 stroke empire, to abandon it now would be a mistake. I agree, Yamaha should bring back a 600cc 2 stroke phazer with a kickass chassis! And maybe a ET340 to compete against the new Indy EVO

I was joking... Yamaha could quit making 4 stroke snowmobile motors for 5 years and still be ahead of everyone . Why stop at only a 600 2 stroke ?
But if they did stop making sidewinders, the value of these sleds would sky rocket ...lol

It’s a great segment to introduce a redesigned Yamaha if they made one. The Sidewinder replaces the apex, viper is good, but nothing really below that has significant impact on buyers. Yes we all love the SRX120 for our children and the all new snoscoot for young kids. So really lineup goes from 4000$ and jumps to 14000$.
Yamaha has to introduce a 10000$ sled that’s fun for teenagers to ride and competes against the mxz 600 and indy600...IMO

I'd be surprised if the 880 rumors are true. Why would cat dump all the R&D money into the 800 CTEC just to dump it 2 years later?

I guess we will find out tomorrow.

They don't need any more HP they need to put there time in suspension's and handling.
Their suspensions and handling are fine. They need to address that Cat smell all over the sled and come out with a proper clutch.

Turbo power will be same for '20. Hoping for some fixes or updates but I doubt we will see anything but BNG.

I can see a full line returning, hoping the RTX is back for good too.

I know Cat will have a new MT sled engine, likely a 850 or higher CC 2s. Not sure though who will build that engine. If the rumoured YAM 880cc 2s engine is true, it very well could power the new Cat that is certain to appear THIS Friday. If so, that could open the door for a 2s YAM engine sled for MT segment.

This is my educated guess at this time for Friday's Cat release, and YAM I believe is not til March 5th.

Also hearing that YAM may have finally made some headway in buying CAT division from Textron, could be rumours but would make for a solid future of YAM running the TRF facility finally, and hopefully bring some QC to the line, along with better US built YAMAHA sleds, and hopefully lots of Japan engineers working there.

This would be closest thing we will ever see to a true Japan built YAM sled im afraid...but "could" bring back better engineering again.

Nothing wrong with wishful thinking!

Yamaha never really had a good chassis’s ! They just built a sled around a motor, Would be nice if they could. I had a 2001 SRX, RX1 my back still hurts.
