If the drive shaft/spinning bearing issue is not addressed in model year 21 they will not get my money. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED!! How can you have back ordered shafts and guys can’t ride? Your loosing customers!! Are you listening Cat/Yamaha??? Nothing is more disappointing then not being able to ride a sled that has warranty and can’t be fixed. Season is to short. ARE YOU LISTENING??
No they are not listening, and i think they dont care. Only thing they care of is our money!

Did Travis at BOP have a fix for this? Not well versed on topic since I don't own a Winder but kinda thought he has a fix. :dunno:

Yes he did make a aftermarket to address this issue. I have one installed and have 1000 miles on it. I have not checked to see if said part is helping. Not saying it will not. But no one really knows yet if it’s working. Also know one knows the correct torque to use with it. It’s a great product and I hope it helps. But it’s still a unknown at this point. We should not have to count on a fix from BOP. Manufacturers need to address this issue. The shaft is back ordered. Rumor is 1500 shafts are back ordered. Probably more. Imagine your sled is under warranty and you blow out the drive shaft bearing. You can’t get a new shaft this YEAR? This will make people switch brands.

lots of Cat guys can't get parts either. maybe textron took alook at the inventory and just axed everything to save cash. parts on shelf don't look good to bank accountants they hate it.

Axed everything? Not seeing that. Maybe I have to much faith ??

You really feel that this is such a big problem that 1500 people are waiting on a drive shaft? If you’re at 100–150 I would be amazed. Not sure I’ve heard of anyone having that issue in my circle or that they know.

You might be surprised. Most don’t know they have a problem. Until the bearing has spun so much on the shaft it’s unusable. You can’t just put another bearing on shaft. This is a major issue that is not on the front burner because of lack of snow and mileage in recent years. Huge problem.

The last four words sum it up.

I'd bet my last dime that there's thousands upon thousands on 2012-up Cat & Yamaha Pro Cross chassis sleds with wrecked driveshafts that are on the trail & the owners are clueless til it eggs out bad enough that the problem is too obvious to ignore.

I bet that is correct. But it ain't broke til the driveshaft is severed!!!lol

How about this? You stop because you feel a major vibration in your brake lever. You take the side panel off and you see two ball bearings laying under the secondary! Yes mine let go at 7200 miles. The bearing that is. My own fault but after they spin some it’s just a matter of time. I should have payed closer attention and pulled brake rotor and checked and or cleaned bearing. Betting 70% of riders and dealers do not check this and or do any maintenance on the drive shaft bearing.

I always needle greased the speedo side axle and Jackshaft bearings on the rx1's, vectors, apex, and friends nytros, etc., as it's super easy. Continuing the tradition is a little more work on the sw, so I grease and prick punch the shaft a little more each time. No spinning yet, and bearing looks like new and brake comes off the spline easily. The Yamaha bearings always get some water in, but the sw bearing is always clean.
