2nd NY TY ride

Dave, How much snow did you get down there yesterday? Did a quick 100 miles on the hill today. Left from my house. All trails, even from my house were in good shape, even though I didn't get any snow yesterday.

Probably 4-6, people have been out. Maybe I'll get a chance to go out Saturday and check it out if I don't end up at work.

I put in to be off from work 2/24 - 2/26 so I hope to ride with you guys again. It's kinda strange when there's nearly 30+ inches right outside my door down here in SE PA and it doesn't seem to make its way north.

Woke up this morning expecting 1-3" fresh snow on the ground but nothing! Rode to Solon for pancake breakfast anyways. Went to East Homer and looped around through Heigberg Forest then continued to Truxton, up through Morgan Hill State Forest, over to Fabius, through Highland Forest into DeRuyter, back through Cincinnatus to Marathon. We were supposed to get another 1-3" today but nothing!! Truck trails were great, some fields had very good snow and some great drifts. Most fields, especially the corn fields definitely need more snow. A few clubs had groomed but in the woods all it did was turn up all the rocks. Rode 145 miles but won't go out again from home unless we get SNOW. Keep your fingers crossed that it comes and comes hard.

Ride won't be out of Marathon unless we get some good snowfall before the 23rd.

Dan, we are supposed to be doing a memorial ride out of the Bowling Alley this Saturday. Hope the conditions improve over that way over the next few days

RX1-Man.....how's it looking? Looks like snow in the forecast tonight through Saturday. then again, next Tues, Weds, Thurs. be looking for the real weather repost from you as the date/s get closer.

Im working on my sled now. Damn thing has toooo many miles on it. or i just ride it too hard, one of the two lol. Making a couple things up at the shop today and gonna be leaving from Remsen sat morning probably around 8 AM. We have gotta some snow past couple days, nothing crazy but i prob got a good 3 or 4 inches of good packed snow. Should be fine to leave from here. Maybe ill see you out on the trails!

Dan, I'm gonna have to say you ride it too hard LOL.

Steve, we got a couple inches overnight and more coming today(so they say). Heard there might be a storm heading this way early next week. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one If we can just get 6" or more in the next week we should be good for the Marathon ride as long as it stays cold.

Thats what im thinking too lol. They need a special edition sled made just for me. or i need to start making more money so i can go on the 2 year plan...ride for 2 yrs and buy another one. If they didnt want a million bucks and your first born child for a new sled it would be easy! lol, hope to see you guys again soon!

to bad the snow wasn't wide spread but these rides should be planned and set where there is snow, pick a spot and have a plan. Let Gordon lead and if there is snow drive to marathon on the sled, good cover on onieda lake and the trail on the south side heading towards cicero is manageable ut another 6" would be sweet...the groomers would then get out as well,

Gordon, weather forecast is saying good snow coming Wed-Fri of the upcoming week, what are you predicting? Lots of sleds through Marathon today but with warm temps the trails into town are pretty bare. Outside of town the fields are thin to good but truck trails still great. Getting a room at last minute here in town should not be a problem. Not sure how booked Budget motel in Mapledale will be. How is snow up that way?? If we are indeed going to get the snow they predict this coming week then we can have the ride out of Marathon.

DAVE, The weather for this week is very unpredictable, even for me. It looks like the first storm(Monday night into Tuesday), will bring an inch or two of snow in your area before it switches to sleet, and maybe even some rain, then back to a few flurries at the end. There could be another storm Wed. mostly snow, but at this time I believe the heavier snow wiil fall east of us. Thursday night into Friday there is the potential of a large Nor'easter, that could dump a good amount of snow on your area, but by then it may be too late for our TY ride, or we could just move it to the first week in March if it looks like you will get alot of snow from storm #3.

I thought about moving it to first week in March too but some already have vacation approved that they may not be able to alter. I am flexible and can do either week. What would everyone else like to do??
