The gates for me on the turbo pulled a consistent 4-6 mph faster top speed than the 8dn or 8jp, but for trail riding it would get too hot and grippy and after about 15 mins of riding it would start to pull down rpm and wasn't peppy anymore, but for any type of high speed runs or perfect trails I'd throw the gates on cuz it is a fast belt
Same here with Gates. Really was aggressive. I am running the Dayco xtx 8dn size I have slipped the 8dn when messing around with clutching. The Dayco has never slipped. Very consistent and is the same as the old Ultimax belts which I always ran on SRX. My main reason for running the Dayco is I have seen the 8dn wear a groove in the primary clutch faces right about in middle after a lot of miles.

i got a question guys..and yes I used the search first...what is the advantages to just using the 8dn belt and the osp clutch adjuster??...my LTX is completely stock motor and clutch....thanks
If your not having any problems with belt dust or slipping the belt there would be no advantage to running an 8dn. The belt adjuster allows for infinite adjustment of your belt deflection and is always a good idea no matter what belt you run.

I've been using the gates carbon fiber belt on the asphalt with good results so far. rpm is a little higher then the 8dn but with it being the right length i'm getting the 0verdrive out of the clutch I lost with the 8dn. Not sure how durable long term its going to be but its holding 250 + hp pretty good.
I'm getting the opposite when I run the Gates belt which I have on right now for asphalt. Lowered my rpms instead of raised them. But I am running the 8DN equivalent Gates belt 4340

I have yet to see a Viper with stock clutching and stock 8JP belt that does not have loads of belt dust. I see you have a turbo so obviously not running stock clutch and stock belt combo?

Right. My 8jp at <50 miles had more belt dust in n side of my machine than I had with 500 miles with 8dn on.I have yet to see a Viper with stock clutching and stock 8JP belt that does not have loads of belt dust. I see you have a turbo so obviously not running stock clutch and stock belt combo?

That's right, I'm running an 8jp with different clutching. No issues at all with the 8jp in my setup. Best belt wear I've ever had on any sled. I'll be starting next season with the same original belt. Never ran my sled stock so can't really relate to all these problems some people are reporting.

I think I can agree with titanrcr a little bit on different clutching may not provide as much belt dust as stock.
I do know that now my son is running the 8JP on his Nytro, the clutches are black and tons of belt dust.....but it made the sled faster, so that is where I have it now. Gave me a reason to use up the 8JP belts I had for the Viper.
