Yes they have gates belts specific for the viper. One is a cheaper model for around $65. The other is a carbon fiber model for around $100. Cannondale has the cheaper belt so I'm gonna get the carbon one and see how it works. The point of this is to show that yamaha, even tho they still choose to run the 8jp belt on the viper, knows exactly what's going on. If they don't want the 8dn belt on the viper then I'm going to try to do the sameMust be so new they don't have a listing in the catalog yet. There was not one available all last season. Let me know what you find out.

Got the gates carbon belt on order. Price on that is actually only $86. Will compare it to the 8jp and the 8dn when it comes in. Will more than likely use that belt for a starting point on clutching

I must have been one of the lucky ones. I still have my original belt after 2200 miles. I didn't do any performance mods except running the OSP can for half the season.

I had great luck with my 8jp belt, I'm just going to give the gates belt a shot. Hoping it's a bit softer and more grippy as the 8jp is a very hard belt

I'm pretty lucky as well , I got 3200 miles on my 8jp .... I got the ultimax belt this year to run , I've always had good luck with them on all my other sleds

Be sure to post how the ultimax compares to the 8jp. Lots of people lookin for a good belt that requires zero adjustments!

I've had good luck with the 8JP also. I changed mine around 1600 miles. Only just because. The belt is still good.
Of all the sleds I've owned I always change my belts around 1500 miles.
You can tell in that mileage range there are performance differences from a new belt.
