AD Boivin ZX2 Durability & Performance Log

About 1,700 miles on the skid. I feel like it is finally starting to soften up a bit.

Bolts all stayed put this last weekend. I replaced my track last week so the skid was out for a full inspection. I have found many rubbing marks on the skid, but nothing broken. Jeff at AD Boivin has been reviewing the pictures. I am still getting a vibration with the new track. I also am getting marks on the hyfax from the track clips that have guides. I put a clamp on the lower rod the limiter strap attaches to, you can see it in the picture. 400 miles and the strap now stays in place.

Transfer in the deep snow is awesome!

I am unable to locate replacement wheels for the skid. No one seems to have the same spec wheels. I was trying to buy somewhere in the U.S. so I do not have to pay $40-$50 just to ship the wheels to me from AD Boivin. I do not mind buying them from him but I just hate the shipping cost.

My confidence is growing in this skid. Many more miles will tell.

What have hit the front arm in pic 1?

Could the vibration come from the track hitting the fins on the front shaft at certain speeds, in pic 2?

Good ide with the hose clamp. I have been thinking of making two plastic tubes of correct lengt and diameter and use them as a stopper, but I think your solution is way easier :)

The skid has good transfer, no doubt :) It also floats very well in deep powder. I'm no longer afraid of getting stuck. With the Proaction the sled got stuck by thinking of getting into the deep LOL. Not anymore, with the turbo power I can propell the sled thru the deep with ease, but I cannot stop and I better watch out not to get into a too steep incline. Staying on the gas she floats in the deep but I have to plan where to go and be able to return to solid ground before I let off throttle :)

Pic 1 is the rear shock arm. Nothing has hit the arms. It is all rub marks on both the front and rear arms.

She does seem to float well is the powder. Although I am sure the turbo might help a little bit

The hose clamp was actually a suggestion by my dealer for my mono as the rubber sleeves were tearing apart frequently. Quick, easy, and cheap.

Here is a picture of the front arm when the skid is installed. It is not very centered.

I spoke with Denis Boivin today regarding the vibration. He has no idea as to why. Very nice guy though.

Guys that are experiencing the vibration let Denis know as it will help in solving this. ( denisboivin@adboivin.com ) Because no one is letting him know there are 500 ZX2's out there and only two people have reported the problem. The other guy rides a Polaris IQ so I know there are a handful of you here that have not said anything.

Regarding my previous picture Denis said that alignment is normal. I examined my old track tonight and took some pictures. There is also some pics of the track before I removed it. You can really tell the cogs on the track are hitting something. It is mainly one row on the track although the other side shows slight wear, it is nothing as extreme as the row the pictures were taken of.

I was looking over my skid and I have some wear on top of the front suspension arm like in mdkuni picture 4430. Just wondering if any one else is having this happen.

Has anyone tried setting the revolver at 2-3? Rode about 80 miles yesterday on my viper, and probably 60 of the miles were repetitive 6" to 12" to 16" moguls. I tried just about everything from 1-4, 1-5, 2-4, 2-5. Preload was at 3 and then 4 and I weigh 175. Maybe it was the rebound, but it pretty much kicked the $hit out of me. My buddy was on a '01 Doo formula deluxe 700, and he was soaking it up better than I was.

I have not tried the revolver at 2-3 but a Viper with the ZX2 has got to be one awesome ride!

Great skid. I have no issues with mine and the only negative side is may be too much rebound. My set-up is 1-4 at revolver 4 on preload and limiter strap stock. Transfert is awesome with the 1.5" Intense track. I have some ski lift on hard pack with the 6.9 Pilots and 6" shaper bar. I will try 13mm sway bar for next mods or short limiter one hole. Note its here I learn to speak and write english, my country is 99,9 % french. Thanks to all of you

Pretty good English too ;)!

Could you post a picture of your old mounting hole from the mono RA dial? I see you added a sticker there and I was considering the same.

The only close-up pics I have before add sticker and the other before I replace the monoshock.

Wow that is one clean tunnel in both pics. What do you use?

I use Blue Magic product, find here at Canadian Tire store. Check the mirror.

There have been lots of complaints about vibration through out all the ZX2 threads including from me? Should we start a thread or survey about this?
My skid also has all the rub marks as depicted here and is the source of vibration IMO. The drive nubs hit the fins on the shock arm and hits the rear wheels, trying to aling this track so it won't hit wheels is quite difficult.
