Yamaheaters kit is all plug in. Very simple
I installed rockmiester's HID kit today. Could not have been easier. All plug and play, looks awesome. The hardest part was getting the stock retaining clip off the stock bulb. On that note, does anyone make a tool that makes removing those clips easier?

For me putting them back in was the hard part.

Agreed. Equally a pain in the #*$&@. Some aftermarket manufacturer should create a tool for this that we can put in our tool case in the event we blow a bulb and have to change it trailside. Would also be nice to get a small case to house our spare bulbs. Could be sold as a kit.

You may have to use a file to notch out the spots where the screws touch the base plate on your sleds light socket. Take a look see had to do it on mine to make the hid bulb fit in without issue. Very easy fix.

O.K., silly question, but since I am SO disappointed in Yamaha's spec sheet and diagrams on this sled.......what the H*** bulb do they use in the headlights? Is it still an H4? Thanks.

Thanks Mike!!!

I'm ragged at Yamaha's spec page because I had to have NOS-PRO measure his........SLED........needed to figure out if one would fit in my enclosed trailer and that info was no where to be found........

Could you post as best you can a pic of where you mounted your ballests and did you HIDs have a reflector on them or was it just the filament and that's it? Mine have no reflector and was wondering if yours didn't.. And what the beam looked like.. My apex had a reflector built into the headlight assembly.. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

No reflector, bright as hell, love it! I will try to get a pic next time I get a chance but I installed the ballasts, one on each side on the inside upper dash under the smoked covers.

How did you attach the ballasts to the underside of the covers? Just Double-sided tape, drill & screw or other?

Here's where I attached my ballasts.. I riveted them on. They sit below the accessory goggle bag and don't take up much space at all.

I did the same but I used industrial Velcro Tape for the Balasts in case I need to remove easily. Did the same on my Apex and they never moved. ;)!

I have rockmiester's HID kit and I think I may have blown a bulb. The sled has less than 14 miles and when I started it today to back it out of my trailer I noticed a flash on the wall the sled was facing. Now only the right side is working. Are these bulbs known to go out so fast???

Does his kit have relays? (one per bulb).. Not sure if the Viper requires relays.. some applications don't make enough startup voltage to run HID's without relays..

Sometimes a bad ground (assuming you have separate grounds) will cause one bulb not to fire.

My HID lights, no slim ballast.
