Nothing lost or gained folks. Like I said the Apex was down some 20+ hp! Big Moose did a fantastic job by still making a gain with the track conditions going to crap between the stock and dealer prep runs! It's all about conditions and adjusting to them! It doesn't matter what type of racing you're doing, it comes down to that!

It would've been nice to see them change the plugs, air box mod, etc and show what the Apex is capable. The Cat dynoed at 166 hp and the Mach at 173. When we dynoed at Dynotech the Apex wasn't far from those numbers.
Allen you know Your my hero.![]()
I truly Believe either Allen or someone with true knowledge of what it take to make a apex or any Yamaha for that matter should be dialing in the Yamaha's not Big Moose!!!!![]()

I think if you start bringing in "tuners/racers" you're not going to see yamaha do any better. The sled would get WAY faster but so would the other two. I think it would just be a show down between D&D, Bickford and Hauck/Fix..and the first two have alot more power to play with lol. It was my initial reaction as well when I saw that the nytro was slower tuned but as Allen mentioned it was more to do with track conditions then tuning.

Hey at least the Nytro lost the least amount of ET out of all the 600's! LOL!

That's why the others are faster. D&D has there hands on the Cats. A really strong Poo dealer does the Poo's and the Doos are done by a big doo guy. Yamaha is done by people that are clueless!!!

Which tells me Yamaha could care less about this event. Last year, they wanted to make a statement and that is why they sent the guy from Yamaha. They wanted to show the Apex was a real sled and not the pig the RX-1 ton is.

The D&D guys must have been just leaning on the hood..it only gained 3 tenths vs. the mach's 1.1 second. I would figure that if it actually was a D&D tuned sled that it would have clearly dominated....
I'm all for having someone "better" tune the Yamaha's...big moose's track record doesn't seem to be that great.

A good setup RX-1 will give an Apex all it can handle. Now the ride & handling of the Apex is superior!

Alot of the Mach's gain was in a simple clicker adjustment. They come from the factory setup in position #6 causing it to over rev horribly. Simply putting them in position #1 or #2 will show the gain they saw.

It's not just the position, it's the pin weight. They send them to the dealers with hollow pins. Then in the back of the sled is an update that comes with a spring and pins that are way heavier then the junk that they come with.Srxspec said:Alot of the Mach's gain was in a simple clicker adjustment. My point was that a dealer who simply changes the clicker on the Mach shouldn't be even close to running with a D&D tuned F1000...or a Hauck Apex...

Running a tenth off to the Mach with a sled that came out 4 months ago is pretty impressive to me. The F1000 is going to be a beast. the Mach has been out since 05 and it ran one tenth quicker in the 1/4 mile. I can tell you it's only going to get better. Look back at the SRX. The last year it ran a 12.03 out of the box. It ran a 13.3 it's first year. If the can can gain a second by year three it will be the quickest sled in shootout history

Take a look at what the mach did it's first year.

Ya..but the F1000 is already a race proven sled in the hands of D&D (you were at haydays right?). I know that's a different sled but the D&D guys already have a setup that works and already have products that make big dyno numbers...As for the Mach..no one races it...It can't compete with a Rev800 or F7 on the grass so I don't see it being a huge acheivement getting an F1000 to run with it....

No I wasn't at heydays. But comparing a race prepped sled to a trail sled is a complete joke. As a racer you should know that. Plus D&D has only had a limited amount of time on the F1000 as a trail sled. I wish we had a crystal ball because I'm betting it gets at least .5 seconds quicker by year three.
The reason the Mach can't run with the f7 or 800 rev in 500 feet is power to weight!!!
