I know my Apex has a mini radiator I'm wondering if we ditched the heat exchangers and just ran a radiator how large would it need to be?

I know a good rule of thumb I got from a hot rod shop is up to 400hp use 2 rows of 1" tube and roughly 1 sq-in finned area per CI of the engine. The Apex is 61 ci so that would mean like a 6x10 radiator 1" thick.

The apex already has the fan wiring so it would kick on just like the factory and you could simply use a larger fan and extend the factory harness.

Aside from some weight and clearance benefit by eliminating the heat exchangers, never running hot, etc. What is the draw back to doing this? Mounting the radiator?

Kinger, Look at my build thread , I installed a larger radiator in place of the stock Apex one, you will still need the additional coolers i. e,tunnel coolers etc. It did help with the turbo but it is still not enough to eliminate the other coolers

I saw that what is that rad from?

Still not large enough though uh? I was thinking of a R1 radiator but not sure hot to mount it or where.

Radiator is from a 125 cc motorcycle, had to make a flat mount out of aluminum and rework the fan shroud to pull more air thru it , works well but still not enough by itself
