Hi
I was thinking of purchasing a FX Nytro but I am concerned about the small fuel tank. Gas stations are sometimes few and far apart (100 to 110 miles).
I see the Tour buddy has a tank for the FX and was wondering if anyone has installed one on their sled. I am looking for feedback on how it affect the ride and anything else.
Have A Great Day

Yes they work great.
Fitment is off slightly (1/8") on the 4 we installed. It's NOT a big deal and there is more than on way to remedy this SMALL issue! Right at 3.4 usable gallons, not the 3.96 as I saw claimed. BUT very quality product. I DON'T know how it will work with an after market exhaust that is centered (Excell)..... Good intructions (but I have installed them before on other sleds) w/pics and all the parts needed to make for an easy install.
The only thing I don't like is where you have to remount the tail light. In snowy conditions it makes the tail/brake light useless!
After Sunday I will post up some pics of our selds maybe there will be some interest as to the changes we have made..... :O

I installed one on my MTX. I agree that the factory threads on the buddy should be back 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I found the instructions OK, and I am no where near a gear head. Yellowknife has a great post with instructions on this site as well.
I think the empty unit only ways about 4.5 pounds and when full, you will empty it in the first 35 to 50 miles of riding. In addition, you don't have to fill it when you don't need the extra distance.
If you need the extra fuel capacity a tour buddy will work for you, and I expect you won't even notice it's there. I had some concerns with my feet hitting the unit when I had them back or moved from one running board to the other, but it wasn't an issue.
If you are worried about looks, you should know that your sled will not win any beauty pagents with the tour buddy installed.

KINS,
just so you and others know the tour buddy doesn't actually empty first.... persay!
The engine still is fed from the main tanks and as the main tank starts to be emptied is will THEN cause a vacume and because of the way the tour buddy is plumbed it will start to refill the main tank. IF you go 20 miles and open both your tanks you will find the tour buddy almost full and over a gallon gone out of your main tank. (now IF we hadn't of lost the slight vacume on the main tank it would have continued to be refilling the main tank until pressure/vacume between the two tanks was equalized.
Now IF we would stop every 10 miles and open our main tanks level we would be constanly breaking the vacume and transfer would stop from the tour buddy to the main tank....
BUT yes if left alone it does empty the tour buddy first BUT the tour buddy NEVER feeds the engine with fuel.... Also the tour buddy will NEVER over fill your main tank with the exception of thermal expansion.... Don't top off both tanks with cold fuel and then go park in a heated garage....

I had a tourbuddy on one of My Revs and it worked well. Like stated above don't keep opening your tank to look at the level, this will cut off the vacume to the tourbuddy. I remember how it would sometimes emty the main tank and keep the buddy full. Then we would stop somewhere for lunch or something and when I would go back to My sled the buddy would be emty and all the fuel had transfered to the main tank while we were stopped. Unless you are in a area where there is no gas for over 100 plus miles I don't see this fuel range to be a big concern for most of us. I know My Wifes Nytro gets better mileage than her 600 SDI did and we never used more than a half tank between stops with her SDI. For Me I don't see a huge need to carry all that fuel.
