apex/attack to rx1 exhaust?

I am new to Yamaha and am picking up my Attack gt tomorrow. It is a 2007 and only has 1300 miles on it. I think it was a pretty sweet deal from what I can tell. My question is I have read that some people are replacing there Apex/Attack exhaust with the rx1 exhaust? What is this all about and is it a direct fit? What are the advantages? Also, it seems to me that there are a bunch of exhaust issues, gaskets, donuts, and cracking y pipes? I am hoping that I will like this new sled. I was always very fortunate with my Arctic Cat's and am hoping that I will be pleased with this Attack.

never heard of anyone installing an rx exhaust on an apex. not a direct fit, different length. i believe the apex has a better flowing exhaust as well compared to the rx1. as for issues, 1300 miles is nothing. drive it this season and check the donuts next summer or at 3-4 thousand miles.

I've never heard of anybody changin out these two exhausts. Thats news to me? The gaskets are shot when you hear it backfiring after a WOT run.

BETHVIPER did it and was hoping to get rid of the modrange drone and it did not.

Not worth it to switch it out and no need especially for that low of miles. Go have fun.

been there done that because I am cheap and needed headers and had an rx exhaust. you have to use the older tips and a little bending and a spacer but it works. no noticable power loss when compared to a stock sled.
the stainless headers are so cheap now there is no advantage to changing it out.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should stay away from the RX1 exhaust if I dont have problem. I would like a slight bit more noise. Suggestions? Not looking to be abnoxiously loud, just want to hear all that power as well as feel it. I love that growl you hear from these things under load. I pick the beast up tomorrow and cant wait to ride.

look on youtube for super q, hauck, excel, and bender exhausts. Very different sounds, all louder than stock.
edit: also look into gutting the stock exhaust-sounds very nice.

I know an airbox mod changes the exhaust to a pretty cool sound but I am not sure if it will help your performance any. I rode a guys APEX RTX that sounded really sweet. I asked what he did to the exhaust and he said NOT A THING....he had an airbox mod done by Fix Powersports in southern,MN.

i just cut the guts out of myn and i love the sound of myn i had myn next to a bender and i think myn sounds better than a bender and is a little louder then a bender

rx1 exhaust

I changed to RX 1 exhaust because the stock exhaust cracked. I took the exhaust to a Midus shop and had them made longet. About an inch. Over 16,000 miles, and running great.

Wouldn't there be a change in sound though going from titanium to stainless. I would think if changing out both header and exhaust for an rx1 stainless assembly would result in slight less raspy and deeper tone?

I am not sure the type of metal matters as much as the design of the system and the can, Ti may be a little "tinnier" though. I put a complete stainless MBRP system on mine and it is definitely a deeper tone. It's also a little louder but I haven't had any complaints - just many compliments on the sound. I am very happy with it.
