Apex Build Finally done 460lbs! new pics!

ski stance is a tad narrower at 37" all the components are one off, a-arms are chromoly, attached to the bulkhead in single shear with some 7075 aluminum bolts I machined and delrin bushings, outer is 3/4" chromoly heim lower and 5/8" upper, the spindles I made, shimmed to achieve approx .010" bump steer per inch of travel, total front travel is approx 12"
the total weight of all the a-arms, bushings, heims, spindles, hardware etc weighs less than one oem lower a-arm with its bushings and hardware.

450 lbs - wow, my hats off for you.

I think theres a lot more on the table to loose but it starts to get expensive quick for titanium tubing, bolts, etc, as it is ive got well under 1k in the whole build for chassis, steering and suspension. most expensive part was the ice age rails

wow that is impressive in regard to weight.

I do have stock front end, but crracing for everything else, mmod seat which weight next to nothing and still weight in at 640# full of gaz and ready to ride. that is over 150# more than yours

even with no engine it would still weight 510# lolllllll

new updates

with the sever lack of snow I haven't been in much of a hurry lately but I have gotten a few updates on the project done, 08+ Polaris gas tank, turned out it was 2" narrower than a rev tank and has 1.5 gal more capacity.
had to make a new seat to go with it, new heat shields under the tank, remounted the turbo a couple inches further back, added a little more reinforcement to the front spindles since I tweaked one a bit on a rock, redid the upper a-arm for caster adjustability and modified the inner mounts since they kept working loose, rode it a little last weekend but snow was almost non existent up top, but the reduced caster angle seems to have helped out a ton, reduced the steering effort to almost nill but time will tell what else it effects, I put on my old walker evans up front which lowers the front 1 " to see if the lower center of gravity makes much difference, just need snow to test it all out.

Nice build... Congrats! Sled is something to be proud of for sure.

GREAT PROJECT!!

Pending if I get to sell my REV this weekend I will buy a 2005 T-Vector MCX, rated at 210hk. About 9900km's, new bearings in the engine and driveshaft, 136" skid from the RS Rage.

And due to my minor liking of the stock appearance of the machine (my girfriend is a HUGE HATER of my decision to by the ugly beast) and my interest in not leaving things stock I will try and make a mod similar to yours.

My plan is to remove the Deltabox and mount the entire pyramid and shrouds from the REV, including gastank and seat.

Will it work?
no...

I believe the MCX intercooler is to wide for the pyramids front mounting position. My "plan" is to rotate the intercooler 160-180degrees by using U-shaped silicone tubes but then it might be to high instead...
and I have no knowledge about how I will affect airstreams..

I saw a few years ago a RS or RX disguised as a REV and that is what keeps me going, only thing that gave it away was the Yamaha front suspension and the lack of pull starter handle. I have been looking for that project sled for a long time, but I cant find it..
Found yours instead!

Can you please upload some more pics of the sled!

What are your next mods?

have anyone caught it on tape for you?

I love this build but those spindles look very unsafe, your relying on aluminum welds to not break in order to steer that thing, with the loads they see on a ride I would try to add more material stops so that if the welds did break it would still not move, use the welds to hold things in place but not endure the loads. The weld is strong but it will break next to the weld every time.

yeah, I love it aswell.
this build is the one that has made me a yammi 4stroke candidate. Although thanks to troublesome events with my engine rebuild this year, I lost the chance I had to get a good price out of my Ski-doo RKT 827 Renegade.

I had great plans to build a T-Vector, similar to this one, I have even bought REV side panels, gas tank panel and the entire REV pyramid frame. Got a great price at all of them together, and with "my"/this project in mind I bought the parts..

Got my sled dirt cheap out now on the Swedish version of Craigs list/Ebay ..

..anyways..
zx670 has seemed very pleased with steering effort and radios in the front suspension system, but what I would like to ask is if he has thought about using existing ski legs, like the ones on the REV?
Cant be to hard for him to re-fabricate the mounts so that they fit?
