just got back from the track jeff from cpr and i played around with some cpr clutch parts. temp was in the low 80,s and very muggy.with some minor clutching we ran a best of 10.701 @ 117.99 jeff and i think that friday night with colder temps and a little more tuning we will run around 10.50 at 120 mph. hats off to yamaha they did a great job on this sled.

Thats awsome thanks for the info badcat,is this the best any of your rx1s or cats have run,et wise??

If that's a stock sled, very nice numbers. I'm glad I baught one. Should be nice on the hard packed trails. Look out strait-a-ways.....here I come

1CS

badcat just what was done to this?stock skid?Jeff's clutch set-up?exhaust? I look forward to picking my up my Gt and a 121 pro-line and narrow track await how close can I plan on being?

Subjecting a brand new engine to the occassional short full throttle blast is OK, but holding it wide open under load for 10.7 seconds is not the best way to break this engine in.
Now throw in dragstrip conditions, meaning the engine is probably below operating temp at green light and then above it at the end of the return road and driving through the pits. Then the engine heat soaks for a couple minutes when shut off.
Just not optimum conditions for rings seating to cyl surfaces and plane bearings and journals matching up.
But JMO.

stock skid stock motor and exhaust. we are working on a all new supertune kit for this sled.hope to run wed night i think 10.60 are going to happen and maybe a 10.50 as for brake in i have always broke in my sleds this way and i always have the fastest sleds around.so brake yours in how you guys want and i will see you on the lake.

Good reply badcats as i brake mine in the same way,and mine are often very fast as well, good luck wend. night, and thanks for posting results.

There has always been a debate on how to best break in a sled motor. I maintain that 4 strokes are different than the 2 strokes in this area. The valve guides also have to seat properly and aresn't subject to any glazing that some seem to be concerned with on cylinder walls. I still believe in short bursts of wide open throttle, but only after several heat cycle warmups/cool downs. There has also been many stories of motors burning oil that haven't been broken in right. My RX1 radared 114 last year and didn't burn a drop in 2500 miles, smoked most any sled it came across, so that works for me.
